Hey guys, some of you know I dabble in dog rescue.

I have 2 dogs that need homes and possibly more.

One is Charlie Brown, a 1 year old Pit that is great with adults, kids and other dogs, he was left on a chain and in a crate and needs to be taught some manners, and is high energy, but otherwise a very nice and stable dog. Neutered, hw neg, utd on shots...
I do not know about cats.

Then I have a 12-14 week old Pit Bull puppy that was "free to good home" and I was afraid he was going to be turned into a fighter as there is a dog fighting ring up here, so I took him in, he is good with other dogs, was around kids and is young enough to be trained properly, has had his first shots, wormed, not ready for hw prevention, and not neutered, but I am getting it done this week.
Chance is very laid back, and calm, not a whiner and not one of those high energy puppies, very very calm. I took this picture Saturday, the day I got him, and he was kind of tired... he has not been tested with cats while I have had him.

I was also called Sunday about a 12 week old female American Bulldog puppy that needs rehoming...

If you or anyone you know that will give any of these dogs GREAT homes with fenced yards and lots of attention, please contact me.

67 looks and not one reply, but BIll did comment in another thread.

Is it because they are Pits and y'all have a bias against them?

If they were golden retrievers or a basset would it be different?

or is no one interested in a puppy at this time?

We can't have another dog with Jack. He is not a dog friendly dog.

We did have a 3/4 Springer Spaniel 1/4 Basset show up last week and try to make himself at home. He took off a few hours later. Probably belonged to a neighbor.

I understand, I guess everyone was curious as to what I was posting about.
If you know of anyone that might want either one, they are both healthy and going through obedience training and doing well.
Thanks

Bob I probably mentioned that we have resigned ourselves to a pet-free life for the foreseeable future but I know some people involved with in SC and it appears to me that there a a LOT of pits out there in rescue straits. Some beauties too.
I wouldn't be surprised to find networks of pit rescue people like they do for greyhounds and certain purebreds.
The vocal hysterics have poisoned minds. IMO the rabid anti-gun types in the animal circles

I saw an encouraging news article last week about Mass. passing a state law prohibiting breed-specific animal laws there.
This is an encouraging sign. I hope the sentiment and movement spreads.
Pit bulls were the nanny dogs of the 19th and early 20th centuries. There is nothing vicious inherent in them save protectiveness of their 'family'. The unrestrained violence is taught, not bred.

Ha! Jack is not an anything friendly dog.
In fact he might not even be a dog. I suspect he is a demon.
Or possessed by one. That is an evil animal.

Really Bill? I'm pretty sure your only exposure to Jack is when he barked at you (a stranger to him) in his home and that was years ago. It is odd to see someone defend Pitts in one breath and then call a club member's terrier "evil" the next. Yup, Jack is so evil that he has been beat up by a cat and can't even hold his own with a Chihuahua. I'd figure than an "evil animal" would have at least bit someone too...too bad the vets and their techs all love him.

All bark no bite.

Pretty sure my boy Blue has everyone beat. He is like a goat in the house. Tramples my kids and the cat which is 19 now. And knocks everyone down when he gets the chance.

Who's not other dog friendly? This is my girlfriends dog response to my new puppy. It was love at first sight! Lol

Good luck with the pups. We just rescued one so we are maxed.

Rescue dogs are the best.

My old neighbors had a chihuahua named "Spanky." I called him "Spank." He would march over to me while I was working on a Cruiser in my driveway and growl at me. He never would bite but he tried his best to let me know that he was boss. He might have been 7 lbs soaking wet. I actually miss that dog growling at me now. :frown:

I'm gun shy of rescue dogs. First one I got from the pound in college died 7 days later from parvo. The second one I got was a lab, Rottweiler mix. He was the devil. He was very obedient to me and I trained him well but he would eat everyone else. He ended up being a guard dog at a garage. From there I bought my first Golden. I will always have a golden from here on out. Just cannot beat them for character.

That is a downside to rescues is they often have histories that we do not know.

My first dog as a small child was a golden and that was a good dog. Next I had several Beagles, and now Cruiser, a lab-hound mix.

Our next dog will probably be a min-schnauzer or scrappy mutt.

Sorry Steve and you're right. I haven't seen him since forever and I'm glad he's not evil. When I remember him, I guess it's the same dog, was not long after you got the Pig and my memory is that you'd had him for a while and were pretty exasperated with difficulty keeping him calm.
I really didn't mean to impugn your dog. My memory even then was you doted on him and apparently he was fine unless a stranger, and I'm sure I qualify, was around.

I love dogs and regret not having one. Just not a dog-friendly life we have.
I've had a lot of dogs, pound and pure, and the pound dogs have always been the most successful and I must say smartest. Maybe not as faithful or predictable but generally smarter and more flexible in needs.
I really don't know if there's a difference between that and a rescue.

No worries Bill. He was a pup when you saw him. He is still protective of the house and his mom and doesn't like single men approaching her - but I'm fine with that. Groups or women are fine.

Troll - you want to know what the debil is? - the yellow jacket nest I weed wacked over last week was the debil. I have video of my extermination attempts to kill those bastids. First attempt was unsuccessful despite my Karate Kid stance. The second attempt worked - but I ran away like a girl. All on tape...
