I assumed like everything I've ordered from the Amazon lately that the Chinese rubber would be rounded to the closest metric size when they advertised it as 1/8"..

I wasn't disappointed and it actually worked out in my favor this time.

It takes some effort with some soapy water to knock that channel on but it doesn't appear as if it's going to fall off easy.
I believe this is going to work well but I will have to wait until tomorrow to install it, today is my anniversary and my brides idea of a good day it's not out here in the shop watching me work on a Toyota..

Happy Anniversary! I'm about to head off to the ballet with my bride, daughter, and our 5 yo granddaughter. No idea what we're going to see but I said I would go.
Yeah, McDonald's and the auto parts store is not a night out. :)
Maybe not today; but there was a time. 😂

I know you're going to rust-proof that channel before you install it...

Excellent detail to examine for a quick minute, as the setup pictured is more or less the dual battery trend with 55s currently - two batteries (main and “house”) sitting together on the passenger side (or whatever, point being they’re in the engine bay). The main battery taking care of starting/engine, and chassis related circuits - the “house” taking care of any multitude of accessories, especially related to the camping aspect. Both batteries are usually tied together for charging via a DC/DC charger or something along those lines.
So then the question is - what is the best and most optimal wiring route to get voltage to the rear of the vehicle?
1) Through the firewall and down along the passenger side sill plates
2) Underneath along the bottom of the tub then back through one of the grommets leading into the passenger side rear quarter panel
3) Other?
Great questions for future builds!

why can't you simply install 4-degree caster shims?
for what it's worth (and I have zero expereince with FJ55's but I am a Dobinson's distributor) I find their shackle angles to be way too aggresive on all their offerings, 40, 60 and 70 series. I actually don't really push their leaf spring products at all as a result

As for Dobinsons leaf springs "killing" caster, I would say that is absolutely true, every rig I have seen with them have a -1 or -2 degree caster angle before any corrections
This is a fair question, I thought the shims for caster rotate your pinion angle down though?
Which is less than ideal...

factory spec is +1° any increase in shackle length is going to rotate the trunnions to take that away.

and it's easy to see why: big heavy truck (for it's time), no PS, bias-ply tires. they didn't want to add a lot of steering effort.
And you weren't trying to propel your Pig at 80 MPH down the interstate.

Chrome handles day..

If you have your handles re-chromed be prepared to drill and tap all the threaded holes and ream the through holes. These handles must have had some deep pitting and took some extra copper plating to fill.
I had to do quite a bit of hand fitting to get the push buttons to fit in the openings.

They look and work fantastic now! A few things to locate and I should be able to get these doors and tailgate wrapped up.
Need some plunger gaskets?
I know a guy...
