My smog pump has begun siezing up and I don't have the $900 to replace it, but am wondering:

1) can I just replace the pulley? Isn't that the part that's sezing up (bearings are part of the pulley, right?) Will any pulley from the 2F engines of the FJ60's fit the pump or did they change according to the month of the truck?
2) Will I need to have my original pump rebuilt? Is it part of the problem?
3) What are your thoughts on man-a-fre rebuilding the pump?

thanks!

The new Toyota pump is insanely expensive. The NAPA pumps are pretty good, but I doubt they will last like OEM. The pulley has 3 or 4 bolts that hold it on a hub on the shaft. The bearings are inside the pump case. THe NAPA pumps are roughly $70 with a stiff core chare that you get back when you bring the old one back. Even if you have to replace it in 50k miles, you are $$ ahead. I am running one now in my FJ40-2 years so far and no problems at all. When my 60's air pump goes, I'll likely go NAPA just because what Toyota asks for that part is crazy.
