Hi forum-friends, i have a big question :

I can install a PTO Winch in Land Cruiser LJ-70 (light duty) :wrench::wrench::wrench:??? the reason of my question is because in the front of the chasis dont have too much "space" (sorry for my english :bang:) too cross the draw shafts of the PTO on the transfer case to the winch in the front...

I need your help please!!!, thank you so much for your answer OK  , bye.

Why not, here in Finland is few of LJ70 with PTO mechanical winch, I prefer electronical winch, it´s much more better in conditions where I drive

Hi Alex, thank you for your answer with pics, nice TOY! :steer:

Another question: (shaft) cardan of the PTO's going very close to the radiator?, it is necessary to move up the radiator???

Thank you guy`s for your answer,

These pics leftmost 2 show my LJ70 with a PTO/ELECTRIC (24votls) from a 80 series hidden behind the front bar. Works very well - not so good when its on its side tho. The engine and the PTO make it slightly front heavy.

Winch has been modified to not let cable loopout off the spool also.
The radiator is in stock position and has an intercooler mounted in the front also.

The Cruiser with blue camo color is mine. I am using BJ-75 radiator, which is bit lower and wider than the orignal. Also I have made a hole going through the front of frame to get the shaft higher. I think I will be changing the PTO winch to electric one some day anyway. Another option would be to add a gearbox to winch shaft so winch speed would be closer to tire speed.

Build thread (in Finnish) -> Pari projektikuvaa mun LJstä ("Marimekko") - Offipalsta.COM - Suomen suurin maastoauto- ja offroad-keskustelupalsta . Which reminds me that I should add some more pictures there...

Does anyone have PTO (LJ70 t-case) for sale?? My friend want to install PTO winch for '90 LJ70. Winch is ready, but he don't have PTO yet. Where I could find it??

Hi Mate, I put a PTO in my LJ70, not difficult at all, & you end up with the winch a lot further back than on the other 70 series:

I cut out some sheet metal above the bumper & made up a mounting bracket - I made a bullbar at the same time.

I needed to shorten the PTO driveshaft so I ground off the weld on the end of one of the sections, took off the end fitting, shortened & re-machined the shaft then welded it back on.

I had to modify the radiator bottom tank & move the hose to the other side to give space for the PTO shaft which comes out under the front cross member.

Have a look at my build thread:

It's done a lot of winching now with no problems. :D

Cheers
