When I went to buy my wife's expedition, the dealer never mentioned anything about a LoJack system they had installed on the car. There was no paperwork; no signs; nothing indicating the suv had a tracker installed.

When I started asking and pressing if it had one, they got really cagey and made up an excuse that it helps them lower their insurance because the trackers are for inventory control purposes.

I let them know very quickly if I had any intentions of buying that gps tracker was going to be removed right then and there. They use the same inline tracker that is shown in the video above. Otherwise, they would have let me drive off the lot (after purchasing it completely outright) with the tracker active and constantly sending location updates back to LoJack.

Ironically, a few weeks after I raised hell w/ the tracker and legal ramifications that it COULD cause, they quickly started to inform their customers with very clear banner that every car had a LoJack installed on it.

In my opinion, everyone who is buying one of these cars should look for this device and literally go right to the lawyer and not the dealer. This is the way.

Speaking of trackers...keep in mind your car has a cellular modem built in. You thought the gps tracker was bad...this cell modem is sending and receiving data regardless if you have opted in or out. Yanking or bypassing it does not seem trivial as it's integrated into the power and communication systems..still researching it on my end.

Just another thing to take note of.
