If we're talking about the 60 PS box with the factory 60 PS pump, then yes, I'd agree. However, put a Saginaw pump behind that 60 PS box (like I have) and you will have no problems turning 40" tires 95% of the time. When I'm really bound up in the rocks, I can definitely feel the need for a ram assist.

The FZJ80 PS box uses the same bolt pattern as the late FJ60 box, but has a larger power piston. If you took the FZJ80 box, put a UZJ105 sector shaft (and pitman arm) on it then used that for a PS conversion, ported for ram assist of course, that'd be the bees knees. That's my eventual plan.

I had forgotten all about the Sag pump on the CP. Man, I really do like that setup. Having to do shock hoops kinda sucked though...and now I wish I had done them inside the fenders. I get a little rubbing on them at full stuff as they are now.

That's good to know. That changes my plan a little bit.

Johnny, your results may vary. I didn't realize there would be a rub until I softened up my spring rate. I'm sure some 1/2" wheel spacers would completely cure mine. It's slight and the rub is on round tube so it shouldn't cut a tire or anything like that. I'm gonna' run it like it is and see what happens.

Could you chop the legs off the mounts and weld to the top of the frame placing the pivot point inside the fenders instead of on the side of the frame with the pivot on the outside? That's what I would do if I were to do it again.

Hijack off...

Sure you could, and you still can! You'd have to cut the inner fenders and make sure that the shock clears the steering box, but absolutely.

I know I can...hehe! I was asking if YOU could do it for your setup. Is there space?

Oh damn, I see what you're saying now. That might be exactly what I do. Good call!!

Did you do custom shock tubes or the Ford shock towers? If I remember Dozer had some Ford's and I don't remember any complaints from Ramon. Or if he had switrched them out on v.1232345...

I had some Ford towers but couldn't figure a way to use them. The 60 box took up all the real estate where the Ford towers would need to go. I still have those towers if anyone needs them. Free to a good home.

For some reason I got unsubscribed from this thread and didn't see all the comments. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for: opinions and experience. Much appreciated.

I like the FJ60 conversion and info the Iron Pig has on their site: http://ironpigoffroad.com/IPOR-PWRSKIT - just not sure I want to drop $1000+ for this if I can do a saginaw for less.

Anyone have an FJ60 box for sale locally?

Thanks a ton guys. I'll post a write-up when I start this conversion.
