Pros / Cons of interior winch control?

Why not just attach it to the front and run the wire over the hood and into the window like most people do. That way you can have it in your hand while winching and can bump it to get over obsticles while using the engine to help. My cord on my 8724 has plenty of length. Some one has to get out and handle the cable anyway. If I had in cab controls some way some how it would come on. Or one of my idiot friends or some kid would flip it.

I love my in-cab winch controls. I can still plug into the solenoid pack and use the wired remote for out-of-vehicle operation if necessary, the in-cab buttons are so much more convenient. I did not use any additional solenoids to wire mine up. It's a simple parallel swtich...

i just mounted my solenoid/control pack in the passengers floor area. i had a buddy that never used his winch and then one day we needed it and it wouldnt owrk due to the solenoid being rusted or whatever. we do alot of water around here so i mounted mine inside, and the cable is long enough to take outside if needed.

I heard of this a few years ago and tried to short the pins with a paper clip but no workie. I have a 5 pin plug and I'm a dummy I guess :D

The 5 pin Warns make and break the ground wire at the same time as the hot so it's a lot tougher to screw with them. ..Steve

Another option is to just mount to wired control switch inside the cab. Then you can hook up the remote and run it forward to the winch if you are walking around, or you can hold it in the cab if you aren't walking around.

but wiring up the interior winch controls should be pretty darn easy
