The fame has already gone to my head. Will trade autographs for unobtainium.................... :grinpimp:

This is the fun part, just bolting stuff on............... :D

So I "remember" I never changed the cam gear in this motor. And I don't want to put the whole front together and then have to change it...................

I decided to spend a few hours and get everything prepped to change the gear..........that's in the mail. So look what I found when I opened the motor up..............is this what it's like to get old?

Coopers or Grip-Spurs. Probably the Coopers as they should have a little better road manners, and they're available locally. :D

Still just bolting stuff on...........this is the fun part, and I'm getting my garage space back too........ :D

And just to prove this is .................... Not a Resto! Or, just checking if any purists are reading this thread............... :p

I'm watching Jim, is this beause you don't have the brackets or because you want it be more like a like an FJ40. Looks like it's coming together pretty quick. So which 25 is going to be your trail rig? They both look too nice to really use offroad. It rained here all day, lucky for me I just finished getting all the loose stuff out of the old back yard yesterday. Too bad I'm running out of room in the new garage:frown::bang:

Alternator? Green tow hooks? or should I say black frame? Tail lights 90 deg. off. Looks great Jim, does the parking brake lever sit that far foward when in the off position? John #3

You guys are too good. Those are 25 brackets, I tacked a piece of metal on the frame to bolt them to. When I redid the corners of the tub I must not have been too careful with the radius of the bottom edge. To put the brackets in the stock location they'd have to be set back about an inch from the face of the frame, thought this didn't look as bad.

Fortunately I can see all the flaws in the paint so this is going to be the "trail rig". I have to keep reminding myself that anything that found its way to this rig was a "second" to stuff I kept for the "resto".

I'm not sure where the hand brake is supposed to be. I have them adjusted up that far so it's both out of the way and it's grabbing when it's just about vertical and where you can get the maximum leverage on it.

Thank's Jim, When I mocked up and built my adapted e-brake lever on my FJ25 with 1977 FJ40 tranny, the lever stops right at the dash when not applied. I seem to remember that, when I tore the stock tranny out.

Wow! I just ran through the whole thread - that is some awesome work! Fantastic looking rig!

Thanks, looks better in pictures though. It was a nice weekend so I rolled it out of the garage and began poking around with the electrical. :bounce:

Good thing this is one of the simplest harnesses around and I've got another one that's complete to compare it to...................because I didn't label anything.

I know I've said it before, but that's really cool Jim!!! You have a nicer trail ride, than most people have as daily drivers...right now myself included!!!

You obviously just took those pictures...now that sucks, because I just took the one below...see the difference

That's the 40 sitting outside, because since it's been in a barn for the past 20 some years, it's interior's "barn fresh" odour is still too much :censor: Notice my neighbour's old fence...could a new top be in my future...but I only need to replace the fiberglass cap, so I hope that if it has to, that it comes down softly :p

Ahhh, it's so nice to be in the sunny south. :p

For anyone wondering, Dean dug a hole to have his 40 delivered, looks like it snowed a bit after that. Dean, think of that white blob as a blank canvas....................

A hole in the snow...sad but true. The snow started early this year, and I usually don't mind it, but this year it just hasn't stopped  Those are snow banks on either side of that old cruiser:bounce:I even heard that the city has concerns of where to put any new snow they pick-up after the snow removal to clear the streets...and we are only Feb 5th!

You like the 2x10's under the Cruiser...the problem with too much snow, is lots of mud in the spring. Had I not put the 2x10's I would have had a serious mud bath to look forward to...and ih8mud !!!

GHeesh! I'm originally from Conn. and lived in Vermont for a year so I'm familiar with some snow. We've been getting rain/moisture here in tucson about every 2-3 days for about 4 weeks now and it's been screwing with my prep work with painting a few cruisers but looking at your dilema puts a whole new perspective on things:p
