Looks pretty, maybe my next trip back home (Farmington) we could touch base. Love to see those rigs in person. Used to fish the Salmon and Roaring from time to time.

I'd be glad to have you, bring some rust free Arizona parts in your carry-on......................... :D

Shot some primer, two more days of nice weather and I could get some color on this thing. :bounce:

Shot a coat of primer and da'd the whole thing, then a coat to be wet sanded. Even with that, this thing is going to retain a lot of its original and earned "beauty marks". :) So close I can taste it.............................oh, no...........that's sanding dust. :bounce:

Well, its one color, but this thing has more orange peel than a roller paint job. Oh well, sand it down and do it again. :D

So what went wrong, too cold or what. I thinking I might give this painting thing a try be maybe not.:frown:

Nah, the cold helped if anything, a lot of it flattened out. I tried one of those new HVLP guns which was giving me fits, figured out I had to increase the tip size, then just ran out of time, so shot it for a base coat figuring I'd have to sand it all anyhow.

Put a couple of these together. :D

Sanded the whole thing out, shot it again. Roasting next to the wood stove, hope the garage doesn't blow up.

Jim your killing me!!!! Man, that looks really nice, and I like that you didn`t try and hide it`s age!!!

John, I am going to try that roler painting trick...posted in paint and body under `The $50 paint job!!!` https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=175226

I followed the links, and read about it on line, and while it may be a little more work, it`s not that expensive at 50 bucks, and if the tests we do work out OK, then my daughter and I will be able to paint it at home!! We`ll see when we get to that point.

Jim...your really killing me ;)

Well, third or fourth time was the charm.

Spent the vacation week bolting stuff on, it feels good to work with clean parts, and to also get rid of the stacks of stuff stored in the garage. Before Christmas:

Looking great. By the way was that your rig in Toyota Trails, January/February page 55?

 I don't think I've seen Dec/Jan yet. I'd really be surprised though.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I didn't replace the cam gear when I was in the motor, so I'm going to do that next.................before I put the nose together.

Would this be yours:) I might be able to crop and enlarge if you don't recognize the photo itself.

Sorry Toyota Trails, wasn't thinking.

OK by me, I wouldn't have believed you if I didn't see it. :D
