In October. Before I left. I was driving my family to my second home in Texas in the Lexus hauling a haul trailer. Well I was pulling into a gas station and some bus cut me off and made a sharp turn right into the passenger side. The bus driver was on the phone so he didn't even realize I was honking and was being dragged along the body of the bus.

The slee bumper absorbed most of the hit but was damaged. I wa posse because 1. The driver is an idiot 2. He was on the phone 3. He endangered my family4. He had the balls to tell me that I should of backed up. After he cut me off.

I pulled into gas station turns out it is a high school football team and they are being escorted by local pd of their town from another state.

The local pd show up and they try to hassle me. I tell them to F off because I know it's not my fault and I need to still drop off my family half way across the country before I deploy in a couple days.

Well they r trying like hell to not give the bus driver a ticket. In the end they don't.

They find out I'm getting ready to deploy and say. "We support our troops".

I tell them to get bent and leave.

I am down the road and the owner of the chartered bus company calls me and goes on and on about how he supports troops and he is sorry blah blah blah. Then he says to not make a claim with the insurance and that he will send me a check for the damages. I tell him I'm leaving and won't have time to bring the Lexus to have it looked at and my wife won't be able to do it for a few months since she is sick.

He reiterates how sorry he is and how he supports the troops and that he will make it right.

Fast forward to today. My wife got an assessment done and sent the dude the bill. Of course. The guys doesn't remember, is too busy, not at his office. Blah blah blah blah.

Of course we will probably waste more of our time trying to sue this idiot for not wanting to pay up but the thing that pisses me of is that this dude walks around proudly I'm sure, telling people that he supports the troops.
What does that even mean?

I ask for no special favors. I know very few civilian friends. I have lived most of my adult life in some s***hole country doing what I do. I have missed 95% of my marraige and kids life doing this. I don't do it for nothing more than I am good at what I do and I get paid to do a job.

I actually can't stand when people thank me for my service. I often wonder what people think I do. That they feel the need to thank me or any other person that serves.

Any way. I just came off a 3 day mission with zero sleep and got to my room and read the email my wife sent me and I got pissed and decided to post it here since its related to my project.

But to keep it tech: I am looking for suggestions to replace the stock seats. I replaced the gears on the seat befor I left but the seat still has issuing moving.

Damn Del. It like some of your non civilian friends need to pay this guy a visit or something ;)

Sorry to hear but man that 450 is a magnet for accidents. I hope you can get it straightened out fairly.

I had the same scenario with my seats. (And non paying story changing related to the officer d-bag driver experience) but The pro car elite and the recaro are both nice options but at a cost.

Stay safe dude!

I like my WRX seats a lot, not for everybody though. Next time something like that happens, call and explain the situation to your insurance company. They may be happy to help you get things settled and I can guarantee they have more lawyers on retainer then you do. Its merely a good customer service thing.

Jason,
It's not that the truck is an accident magnet. It's that stupid people are allowed to drive. And texting while doing it is not any better.

I second the WRX seats. Had a set from a 2006 WRX in a custom crawler a while back. They are well built seats but not for a large person. Sturdy, firm and very supportive.

Only in the states for 2 weeks. Since all my tools are in storage decided to do nothing but get a new battery, change the oil, rotate the tires.

I also upgraded the much needed stereo, with back up camera, speakers, and a new alarm since the factory one stopped working before I left the last time

Oh and I drove the s*** out of it.

The stereo speakers and alarm upgrades.

Exploring south Texas

Went over to south padre island but on this day the tide was to high so no driving on the beach.

This was also pretty cool. Drove around the old civil war battle grounds. Just minutes from our new home in south Texas.

And finally. The wife and I made an attempt to reach east cut. (Traveling north bound on south padre island through sand) the other side of east cut is I believe padre national sea shore (PINS). When I get back to the states I plan to make another attempt at it. Giving myself more time and hopefully the tide is lower.

Been a while since I updated my build thread. So why not get it started back up with some pics.

Regarding your "seats" question from a while back, one of the Icon4x4 builds of a 60 or 80 series used some BMW 3 series seats. They looked just right.

On the other hand, when I bought my 450 last year I took it straight to an upholstery shop and had them put in Katzkin heating/cooling seat systems. $600 per seat, but they're the best thing ever in a Texas summer.

[edit] I believe the latter paragraph puts me in the very exclusive "Pink Silk Panty" club.
