I dont, but i have a cherry top, but going to hold onto it. I have a swb non removable back cab with the rear sliding windows, would be cool to use the window section? I will be at the stockton swap meet with a truck load!

See you in Stockton, I will have my black crew cab come by, doing the same, going to take a bunch of stuff,

got busy, haven't had much time to work on the cruiser, been working on being a dad first, easter, swap meet and work have killed some of my cruiser time..

got about 8hrs today, ran out of sandblast sand, and sheet metal, so will have to make a trip to town tomorrow.

so I finished working on the frame, taking 6" out of the middle..

I know others have shortened an fj80 frame but this is how I did it, first remove the lower rear control arm mounts, then mark the frame for the rear cut I started on the outer 4 inches behind the inside joint on the boxed frame there is a reinforcement on the inside of the box, I cut with a die grinder there making sure to not cut the inner reinforcement. Cut most of the way thru then use a chisel to split it and clean with a grinder.. at the same time I took the weld off the inner joint and the top and bottom of the frame rails, this gave me a 2 piece frame.. then shorten the inner and outer square it all up and if everything is right 106" wheelbase, I ended up a little shorter 105 3/8" but I think that is due to no weight on the frame because I removed 6" and both sides are even..

the reason for keeping the inner reinforcements is one strength and two it helps align the frame when you put it back together. I am still going to make an outer c reinforcement extending 3-4" ahead and behind the weld joint, for some extra strength..

Some pix, I'm still fitting at this point, alot more grinding to do.. but gives you an idea where I cut and the way it fits..I cut about 1/4 an inch long on both sides then fitted from there you can see the score marks in the pix of where I marked the frame before i started..

hope that makes sense, the inner and outer weld are 4" apart, the outer will have a reinforcement when I'm done and the inner will be reinforced by the control arm mounts.. May take it over and put it on a frame rack before I finish welding it all up.. just to double check, but everything is square and even. Planning and marking/scoring everything paid off, took some time to lay it all out but it fit up nice..

If you add the new project your going to run out of room in your sig line.

Just sayin...........:flipoff2:

Ray,
Why would you make a vertical splice section on that frame???
Radius of AT LEAST a diagonal splice would have made it stronger, dont you think???

looked at a 45 splice or a z, the inner already had a lip splice just moved it forward, on the outer, there was no real way to do it like I wanted with an inner sleve,

I have some metal the same thickness going to bend a C going 4 inches a head and behind the weld and 45 the ends and plug weld it, will give me plenty of weld area and it it will be stronger than it was before,
