Im leaning toward bronze valve covers and intake manifold with black accents and black throttle body. Or the same scheme but with silver hammerite.

This type of swap seems to be getting more and more attention. I was looking into superchargers, then turbos....but the next logical step is the v8, and heck....not far off in the cash department. Ton of time, but thanks to you and few others, this will be easier for folks to follow. I know Slee is working on a "kit" of sorts, at least for motor mounts and stuff. Looks like the harness will be the real challenge of your project though.
Nice work!

toojayzee, you are my new wrenching/project idol...and now I really want a wife who would deal with never-ending desire to tinker and have horsepower. And I always wanted but now even more want a big garage to wrench in that I don't share with anyone.
but the wiring is different enough from year to year in the body let alone what toyota does with the motors and ecu's that IMO it would become more of a hassle trying to offer a harness than its worth.
Also, not used for lockup, but for O/D.
"This sensor detects the rotation speed of the O/D input shaft
from the rotation of the O/D direct clutch drum.
Its construction is the same as that of the No. 2 vehicle speed
sensor. By comparing the O/D direct clutch speed signal and the No.
2 vehicle speed sensor signal, the ECM detects the shift tim-
ing of the gears and appropriately controls the engine torque
and hydraulic pressure in response to various conditions,
thus performing smooth gear shift.
"
Ive rebuilt manual transmissions before. But never so much as looked inside an automatic transmission before, let alone taken one apart.I hope you know how to put those clutch packs back together....they are a pita. If you have done it before ignore this, but if not, a few tips.
Put the clutches on the drum before you put it back in the trans. Don't try to fit the drum in the case with the clutches in...won't be fun.
Also be careful with the O/D unit, don't let the center hub fall out because all the clutches will be out of line. You then would have to pull the O/D unit apart and re-assemble.
As for the sensor, are you use it just doesn't use those outer tabs as the triggers? Guess you will see when you pull the other trans apart.
If its that easy, its not even close to worth risking it.just a screwdriver to pop out the retainer ring. I then usually put them on the hub, then line up the notches for the casing and slide it in, then put the retainer ring back in.
If you don't get it back all the way, you will ruin your trans. You might think you got it past all 5, but what if you didn't....
