Jeez your fast. BTW I applaud you for taking this on. I hope to learn enough to take this on myself. Know that I and many others are here cheering you on.

1998 1999 cruisers did not have the vvti. They got that in 2005. The 98 and 99s had the h24v and 343F 4.7 combo, at least thats what I recall.

So far im only into the motor swap 750bux. I did order a 343 trans so that will set me back but so far so good.
Plus now I have a good 442 for sale also a 340/tcase combo from the tundra

This is a great project. I secretly wish my 1FZ had some kind of terminal illness so I could justify a heart transplant as well. The V8 is an awesome choice, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

James - let me know if you have room for a spectator up there. I'm only 5 minutes away from you guys

Karl, I just re-read this post. I think you may be right. For some dumb reason I was thinking 08'-09'

Im not going to look back with what if's at this point but that may have been a viable option.

This thread is becoming more like a journal than a build thread.
Today I picked up the A343f and much to my dismay it has a kickdown cable/line pressure actuator or whatever its called.

WTF Do I do now ? I thought by going 343 I wouldnt have to deal with this

don't you still use a normal cable actuated throttle though? I thought I read that the cable opens it up part way or something.

so question, how does the transfercase shifter bolt to the transmission. My A750 had a mount cast in that the factory shifter assembly bolted on to...perfect match, just needed to shorten the linkage a few inches.

Yea the throttle cable moves the full duration like a normal cable does and it has a tps type sensor on it for communcation with the ECU servo.

Good question im not sure. In the photo of the 343 above it looks like it may have had a 4 bolt flange that it was mounted to. The ass hats at the wrecking yard wouldnt let me go look at the rig this came out of.

Made a little progress this morning by discovering that the A442F will in no way bolt to the tundra motor. The oil pump body that is essentially the hub centric portion that the bellhousing is centered on is much larger diameter.

So now im at the point where the A343F Appears that its going to bolt up. The question is do I use the A343F and fabricate some type of actuator for the kickdown cable/line pressure actuator. (its called a TV cable for future reference in the thread)
Or...do I hybrid the sh1t out of the tundra's A340F and the new A343F so I done need the TV cable ?

Photos to follow... probably tomorrow

Looks like SuperRunner has already had this debate with an 2uz FJ80 swap and decided on a A750 after torching the stock transmission. You might want to check out his build...

I've been following Rob's thread. We've also been emailing and he's been talking me thru a few things already. He was able to do the A750 because his vvti ecu controls that transmission already.

The early 2UZ's relied on a separate TCM to send the transmission signals just like the FJ did.

Im about to go to the garage and open up both cases and get photos of what I find regarding the tv cable.

Forgot to post this. This is all the throttle plate opens with the electronics off.

The throttle cable only actuates the throttle motor. The cable will open the throttle part ways in case of electric motor failure.

01 Landcruiser A343Fs do not use a kickdown/pressure cable. Your tranny is a later 80 series tranny. The 100 series will have a small hump to clear the starter.
I take back what I said. Your correct. The one I have is out of a 97 LX450. I tried to find a FZJ100 trans and couldnt find one local, and the cheapest I did find was over $1k
