yeah...i remember it's supposed to be family hauler type rig, i was just givin you some crap, ha ha.

axle lower's and frame uppers are ureathane bushings.

Frame lower's are Gyro Joints, Axle upper is a single 2.5" threaded Johnny Joint

That ought to work well. Looking good!

Pulled the motor/tranny/tcases out to finalize and paint everything..

with no motor it sits at 21" to the bottom of the frame on 35's.

Perfect height..

Awesome Job there skip, Were in for the race now....

:D

P.S. popped in Life Aquatic last night, I havnt watched in months....been going thru withdraw.

Hey Mace,
Im just curious...
Looking at the pics, the up travel looks really limited before the springs will hit the frame rail.
I understand that you mentioned its not a crawler or anything, but the way it looks in the pics, it seems that it would only be a matter or a few inches before she hits, 5 or 6 or so...
I dont know much about the linked suspensions, so I was just wondering if I were missing something related to its mechanics.
It looks to be a really nice job you did!

4" of uptravel is perfectly fine by me. I am not going to baja this rig. It should run sand washes fairly well but in the big whoops it will flounder. I am hoping the WB will help that out..

Course, most of the good baja rigs I know of have more uptravel in the front than rear anyway..

this is not a matter of linked vs leaves, it is just how I like suspensions to be. I only have rusty (before I cleaned them) 2.5" leaf springs in the front and 35's.. So no matter what, I will be limited in uptravel..

Heck.. even my crawler 40 only has 4" of uptravel in the front..

Funny thing, the down travel is seriously limited right now due to the spring retaining clips.. I gotta cut them off lol

Gotcha!
I was just curious, cuz I know virtually NOTHING about that type of suspension.
It looks B U R L Y as hell bro! Again, nice job!

thanks,

Chicago

See you on the con?

Hope not :D

See you on the con?

Probably not for Rubithon, but I do plan on it this summer some time!
I just cant take anymore time off of work right now, especially after being in Maui for 2 weeks!

Chicago, odd world my girl just got back from there.

I'd say your stubby shocks are more of a limiting factor than anything else. Do you have plans to lengthen the travel? ;)

Actually those stubby shocks move like 8". Not bad at all really when they are inboarded as they are.

Fitment/ride is the major issue. I could fit a longer shock in there but then I would have to lean it over more, and lose the sway reducing ability of the shock.

These shocks are a compromise, but they work :)

I'd buy some longer shocks & build a tower, mounting them as high as possible. Why go to the trouble of $$$ linking it out if you're gonna handicap the travel? ;p I actually went thru the bed w/ shock towers on both of my buildups.......

Cause I wanted a better departure angle and the easily tuned suspension.

This rig is not going to be a off road king. But my daily driver and family hauler. It is going to have a nice paint job and not get hammered. I already have a rock rig. What I needed was a good camping play rig.

Bout the toughest trail this truck will see will be the con.

I don't want or need massive amounts of articulation. I need a good handling stable rig :)

No F'n way am I going to cut holes in the body to run the shocks through. It needs to be sealed on the inside from weather. Plus, it makes it harder for the AC to work ;)
