here is a 1969 FJ40 my uncle has in his back yard that he is looking to get rid of I would love to make a buggy out of it but don't have the time and I told him I would post up if someone is interested. I don't think he is looking for much for it and the body and frame are in pretty good shape. There is a block but no head on the engine so it would be a perfect 8v swap.

Call me or email me for contact info on it

TAILGATE!

and the bezel is upside down...

Does it come with the gun?

You got it.. I was 5 when that show hit the air in '66:eek:
Howdy! I was a senior in high school when it came out. USAF put me in Boston for a year in 1972. My buddy had a 72 Jeep Commando with a soft top. We rigged up an old military harness to the roll bar so we could stand back there to take pictures on the trail. Worked pretty good since the old 35mm camera we had required 2 hands to operate. We used to joke about buying a huge, oversized plastic display model of a 50 ca. at the local Army Surplus. That would have definitely caused some rubber necking on the freeway!!!! John

Rat Patrol was great. But how did they get those old Jeeps on military crossbar tires to run in the sand? Must have had a Land Cruiser to pull them out when they got stuck...

Howdy! From a recent thread on LC history, those early military J**ps weighed in at just over 1200 pounds. John

One of the design requirements was that the vehicle had to be light enough that the 4 occupants could get out of the vehicle, each pick up a corner and unmire the vehicle in an emergency. They had 4 handles, one near each corner, for this purpose.
