My fuel pump went bad so I purchased a new OEM one. Several places state that I need to have the spacer on the unit or it will be damaged. The one I took off didn't have a spacer and it WAS damaged so....

While I was at it I replaced the fuel filter and all of the fuel lines.

Now I can't get it to start/run.

Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - Page 028 Land Cruiser Fuel Pumps, Fuel Lines & Fuel Filters shows that teh spacer is only on 1/79 and up while CCoT says it (the spacer) is needed on 6/78 and up.

It was a PITA getting the pump installed so before I go through that again and possibly damage my new fuel pump, does anyone here have some advice?

Take off the spacer. reinstall the pump and fuel lines. Now try it. I have a 78 as well and the mounting bolts wouldn't reach with the spacer on. Been running without it for over a year now without any problems. The old pump didn't have a spacer either. Good luck.

does your carb have the return line? or is the return at the pump?

pumps with 3 lines need a spacer....pumps with 2 lines NO spacer.

I took off the spacer and reinstalled. Everything works fine. Thanks guys.
