I did not initiate the group buy and am not affiliated with the company, but just interested in participating the group buy. The more the merrier, to a point. Here's the link for more information.

Prinsu Roof Rack Group Buy 2nd ROUND!

If interested, best get on it. I think this is the last day(?).

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice ...

I'll pass.

Care to elaborate?

Here's the first group buy thread: Prinsu Roof Rack Group Buy No one in that thread ever reported receiving their racks. Of course, they may have reported elswehere, but it is not clear.

The group buy was closed after 4 days when, supposedly, 50 of us bought roof racks. I can only find 4 or 5 reports of members who installed Prinsu racks, and it's not even certain they were purchased as part of that first group buy. Here's one install that was posted up one day after the first group buy was announced: Prinsu 200 Series Rack INSTALLED and that was not exactly a smooth install - required professional help in the end.

Perhaps it's just my (incorrect?) read of the situation, but the Prinsu rack does not appear to be receiving glowing reviews, the group buy sounds like a scam (where are the 50 who bought racks?) and I can not find one example of anyone who bought a rack from the first group buy, received it, installed it successfully and was happy with it. If anyone on here has that experience, then it would be very helpful to post it up.

So, to elaborate, as I said in the first group buy thread, Prinsu left a bad taste in my mouth by announcing a group buy and ending it in less than 4 days. That "bad taste" has not been removed by any members posting glowing praises about their group buy purchase experience and their satisfaction with the product.

So, since you asked, that's why I am not at all interested in Prinsu racks - too many other good options on the market.

Thanks for sharing your read of the "situation". I can think of a few reasons why a seller would limit the number of group buy recipients but you've got me wondering if a full 50 people were able to participate as advertised. Otherwise I suggest you re-read the original thread you've linked above as I recall a bunch of satisfied recipients (and installs) of the Prinsu rack from that group buy (after I, too, had been denied of signing up).

I bought one and am happy!

But if your sig is current, you don't even own a 200 series LC. I am talking about members here who bought a Prinsu rack for their 200 series cruiser during a group buy. This is, after all, the 200 series forum ...

10-4. I didn't realize there were two threads with the same title in two different forums. (Kind of surprised it's even possible.) I came to the 200 zone yesterday to spread news of a group buy for 80s, 200s, and FJs. Now I have more Prinsu research to do. Thanks for the info, lesson learned.

I looked at one of these racks a week ago at the Overland Expo East event.

Looked really nice, I do remember a member having an issue getting the old rack off without damaging the internal threads on the roof, this was on his 200.

I don't own one yet....
I posted in the 80 & 100 forums too before pulling the trigger on each of those vehicles.

All I was trying to say is that I am happy with Zach's product. I am also sure that their are a lot of other 80 & 200 owners who have been happy with the Prinsu group buys. I only know of one 80 owner who was not happy with the fit of his rack. I'm not sure but that may have been due to having the side panels reversed (they are side specific) or prior body (drip rail) damage to his vehicle.

I was a member of the first group buy. I received my side rails first, then the crossmembers. They were cut the wrong length and had to be redone. Zach at Prinsu has been very forthright with information and progress. it has taken longer than I wanted to get, but the savings were worth it.

As far as limiting a "group buy" or promotional event; my wife owns a small business and does small sales to get the name of the company out in the public eye. She loses money on the deals, and hopes word of mouth will help promote the business.
So having seen how small business works, I totally agree with limiting a group buy to 50 pieces, or whatever the vendor feels they can afford to get the word out.

I'll post pics of my install as soon as it gets back from being powder coated. I ordered mine raw, so that I could get it coated to match my rock warriors.

FWIW, the 80 series tech forum for the same Prinsu Group Buy in July that you reference looks to include at least 40 participants. Add in 200 and FJ interests and I bet it reached 50. Plenty of pleased Prinsu roof rack owners in that 80 thread, too. I have zero affiliation with Prinsu, but want to set the record straight. And I am interested in buying a Prinsu rack at a discount through the current group buy.

I really wish the Prinsu web page had more info and better photos. It is SO scant on info and images. If anyone has a web page or resource that truly details the rack and options, etc., I would sure love to check it out.

I've been assuming I'd go with FrontRunner...but I really wish it didn't sit so high and comparatively narrow.

Anyone know of a substantial Prinsu info resource?

There is a 200 in SD with a Prinsu roof rack. You should PM the owner to check it out. Here's a link to the build thread... Lots of pics of the Prinsu on a 200.

Oooo... Yes! That slipped by me. :) I've been meaning to try and meet him anyway... :)

We are nearly identical twins (or our Cruisers are...especially if I add a Prince).

Thanks for noticing the locale.

I wasn't part of the "group buy" and I do have a Prinsu rack on my 2013 since May of this year. Other than the issue removing the stock roof rack (just making sure the hardware does not fall into the headliner)

I really like the low profile of the Prinsu - it is also quiet with the supplied air dam - we usually have a James Baroud RTT on it.

I have a stock suspension (AHC) with TRD RW wheels with 270/75/17 BFG KO2 (32.9") and I fit in a 7' feet parking garages with room to spare and the AHC in Normal mode. (obviously no RTT)

I put a door protector on the edge of the rack to not have contact with the RTT/fiberglass and aluminum. It seems a little sharp to me - since the RTT does not really make contact with the load bars. The RTT basically sits on the part that is bolted on to the roof itself where the load bars also bolt too.

If you guys want photo I can dig some up or take some of a certain angle that you might want.

Photos are ALWAYS welcome. :)

Looks like the recent Prinsu Group Buy has closed due to the deadline having come and gone.
