Hey guys quick question about using bedliner on my fenders above my front wheels. I'm looking to stop any future rust from appearing. Wondering if Bedliner would work underneath? Or even painting the whole fender with it. Might look dumb?
Pics attached.
Cheers

A bedliner may work, you should definitely do some research and see if the liner is capable of preventing rust..

The main thing you must do is remove the rust you have now, on top and bottom of your fenders. Your best option is to have them sandblasted to an SP-6 Commercial Blast. Your second best option would be to wire wheel them until all old coatings and rust are removed. DO NOT use a grinding wheel, as that will make the surface smooth and leave no profile for your coating to adhere to. After wire wheeling I like to scarify the surface with some 100 grit or less (I like 60 grit) sandpaper, for a better profile.

If I were you, I would blast the fender, apply a quality 2-part solvent based epoxy at 4.0-6.0 mils DFT (Dry Film Thickness) then a quality urethane at 2.5-4.5 mils DFT.

I prefer the Tnemec Series N-69 as a primer if you can sandblast. http://www.tnemec.com/product/view/Series-N69-HiBuildEpoxolineII

I like Tnemec Series 135 if you CANNOT sandblast, but are using the wire wheel method.

Finally, Tnemec Series 73 as your urethane top coat.

The previous owner of my FJ60 did a color matched bed liner on the bottom half of the vehicle. 3-4 years later it now has rust spots coming through. If you're going to do this make sure there is NO rust underneath.
