Looking into a PZJ75 donor rig to alter my LJ78 into a PZJ77, the LJ is sitting in my shop in need of a head and I'm looking into other alternatives. I want to stay diesel, so not to keen on a 22RE aproach.

A couple/ a lot of things I'm not to sure of though. How easily would the front clip of the PZj75 be mounted on the lj78 frame? (if the pz needs the room). I would use the 1PZ and tranny/transfer case, would the mounts be that far off? Anyway a lot of unknows for my self, but still eager to try. Hoping for you guys to shed a little light on this! :wrench:

Thanks, Joel.

if you have a complete donor then it is a cake walk.
the front horns will need modifying for the HD front clip
the engine mounts and tranny mounts are on the donor truck so cut and weld into the new.

seems it will be easy enough as long as you have some ability to think outside the box.

i might be interested in the old PZ77 body when you are done.

Well sounds straight forward enough, just have to convince the better half that this is a good idea:D.

Is there much of a concern with the strength of the smaller 8" rear end, with a 1pz/1hz (possible turbo)? Can't see myself putting any tire on bigger than a 33.

Sure Wayne if you're interested in the 75 body when I'm done, something can be arranged. Sounds like it's pretty rough though.

Thanks again, Joel

hummm, i thought it was a 77 you were striping, not a 75... although i might still be interested.
the small 8" stands up to a ton of abuse. look at all the V8 mini trucks running around on huge tires.

if in doubt, swap it out. but personally, i would drive it with the 8" till you had trouble with it.

Yah I only mentioned the 77 cause I want to take the front clip from the PZj75 donor (motor and all) and replace the front clip of my Prado.

thanks, Joel.

I will second the 8" . They can take a beating.

Sounds very interesting!

You also need to do a electric job, from 12V to 24V. Maybe its easier to rebuild the engine with 12V equipments.

I wouldn't expect either of the rigs to be 24 volt.
