I’m redoing my power steering due to a seal leak on the PS box. I’m realizing some questionable work that was done in the past. Is there a recommended/required distance from the firewall to the steering wheel. ‘72 FJ40. An AFM bracket was welded to the steering column to be able to mount it to firewall. Im using a DD slip shaft with joint coupling so I have some play in the distances on the engine bay side and can move the bracket and reweld if needed.
