I need both I guess and I already purchased them as I was hoping to let teh dealer do the work. Based on some of these posts, I am having concerns about that. I have no idea how teh hydraulic winch ties in to the system so I am not sure if I want these Toyota techs touching it. No offense sice I know you work for a dealerhip, but the techs at my local Toyota Dealer are not exactly crackerjack ace mechanics.

Again, as I said earlier, you need to talk to the mechanic that installed your modifications. Toyota is not going to touch your hydraulic system with a mile long stick.

We have a high pressure hose in stock.

No offense taken at all. And I agree with the general level of aptitude of Toyota techs when it comes to something other than a Camry or a Prius.

LC's are exotic to most Toyota techs, and a heavily modified LC is like them working on the space shuttle.

Sorry to hear about the vehicle woes. I know a lot of time and effort has been put into the building of this rig.

As another possible option (IIRC, you are out on Long Island)...you might want to contact Jose Rivera--an LC expert--in Belleville, NJ. Closer than 4 hours to you.

Good luck man.

Thank you. WHat is his screen name so I can reach out to him? I assume he is very good with these modified trucks?

Well, with all the work I had done I think it is normal to expect a few issues to crop up. However, I feel like I am getting my fair share of trouble sooner than later with this truck. I am optimistic that once it is sorted out it will be an awesome ride. It just sucks in the meantime.

I cannot drive the vehicle due to a fuel leak ... which is dripping on my exhaust. I have been driving it this way for a week or two without realizing it but Toyota said it is very dangerous and I shoudl not drive it.

How do you have fuel over the exhaust? All the fuel stuff is on the driver side and the exhaust manifold is on the passenger side. I do not understand where you could be getting fuel on that side of the motor.

I am also in a similar situation. Drove the LC yesturday and when i parked i noticed some fluid around the power steering cooler (the coil near the front of the bumper). Does this cooler normally go bad and is it available at places like advanced autor or NAPA. Also noticed some oil near the PS pump. Seems like this weekend the Pump comes off to find out where the hell the leak is.
Note have had the truck for 5 yrs never did a PS fluid flush.

All help is appreciated.

Good suggestions. However, I tend to go with OEM Parts....it is just how I am. ...

Most times that is good, but with custom parts in the mix it may not be best? Depending on where the extra lines are spliced in, it's very good possibility that the spacing, ideal line length/routing has changed? This may have caused your problem? Without seeing what your dealing with, it's imposable to tell, but custom hoses, made by a good hydraulic shop, may be your best/most reliable option?

too bad as I have replacement hoses in my garage and have had no contact with you.

For those who might not understand the install it is quite simple.

Two high pressure hoses are used. One goes from the Power steering pump to the winch and the other goes from the winch to the gear box.

On my installs the difference in length is only 2", so basically the same.

The short term solution is to remove the bad hose and then run the good one from the power steering pump to the gearbox. This takes about 10 minutes to do and you only need a box wrench. However the winch no longer functions.

For a permanent repair you need to replace the bad hose. There is nothing special about these lines and they are extremely common and readily available everywhere.

Any gas station mechanic, with a phone call to me, could have easily sorted this out and had him on the road in no time. Going to the dealer and insisting on factory parts was a huge mistake.

Rich, my phone is on all the time. Call me and enough with the email communication mode. I'm not sitting at a computer all the time and you can expect it to take hours, even days to get a response.

The operator error that lost database wiped out my posts to each of the individual threads so I am posting here again to sum it up. I just wanted to say that Rick & Nat came through big time and drove 5 hours each way twice to fix the issues with my truck. It turned out to be a defective radio for the batteries, a faulty Crimp on a PS Hose, and a loose connection for the AC Issue. They did a terrific job and went out of their way to get my truck back up and running. These guys are the greatest...!!
