Power steering 2

Thats right the next evolution of my power steering thread from long ago in the first days of the 55 board. I spent the day pulling all the components off of a 60 series. Within the next few weeks I will be doing the power steering conversion on the 55 and posting up all kinds of good pics and writeup so stay tuned.

In the process of mini truck PS right now, still never got to the pump bracket yet. That is the only straight picture of the 60 steering I've seen on a pig, never seen that setup in real life. It makes it look like a setup retaining the stock linkage isn't worth the effort.

Snailwagon go to my first power steering thread its on like page 2 of the pig section and there are several links that you can look at with a lot of good pictures. I think one of them is actually a mini truck conversion.

If I was actually able to find good fj55 manual box, without play, I wouldn't even bother with power steering. Armstrong steering is great exercise, but does get a little difficult in the rocks. I have gone through 2 boxes on my 55, on one, the entire sector shaft got a little forked up. The other ended up with about an entire half turn of free play. So, I wanted to go to pismo and had a PS mini truck box and one of lance's brackets. So I put it on without a pump, filled it 1/2 way, ran vents, and have been using it. Just a little bit harder to turn than the manual box, but not much. It will get a pump around christmas, then a 60 box if when I find one.

How much for the pump? Shoot me a pm. My roommate might take the one I have an buy a new one for me because we can't get it off of the engine its on which he is swapping into his 40.
