Hey all, before I start replacing parts blindly, interested to see if anyone here has insight on drivers side seat power. The buttons all work, it goes forward and back, tilts the back fine, the only thing it doesn’t do is go up or down. Then you press the button you can hear the button click as if it’s sending power but seat doesn’t move. Does anyone know if there are individual gears? Or is it a motor issue? I haven’t messed with power Seats before but hoping to figure this one out as it would be nice to raise the seat from where it is. My wife is pretty small and it’s going to be pretty low if she drives it. Thanks

Lifted the seat and this is what I see, both the motors click up and down then I press the button, I can feel them, but nothing happens, am I missing parts? Or something not connected perhaps?

There are lots of wiring connectors under the font seats. It is possible that one of them that controls the up and down function has come off or come loose. Has there been any recent work done on the seats like upholstery? I recall after installing new seat covers on my son's LC, we forgot to plug in one the connectors. Luckily we were able to see it with the old mirror on a stick and plug back in without having to pull the seat back out. Sometimes you get lucky and it is something simple. Best of luck.

Nothing recent was done. Everything has power and is connected. Confirmed with voltmeter and pressing the buttons. You can feel and see the motors kick when you press the up and down. So I’m not sure where to go from there, it looks like the white ends are the gears to actually move the seat. I find it odd that both the up and down would both not work. Was hoping someone had insight on that. Tried to find the gear parts online but can’t find it in any diagrams.

I am worried that these too many electronics going to fail one day so I keep the tracks lubed at least once a year. Did you try to spray WD-40 on all the joints that lifts the seat bottom?

Should have mentioned I did this also, all the motors look the same.

It’s been a few months since I’ve looked at my seat guts but there are visible screw/gear drives that move the seat around. See what isn’t moving and test the connected motor for power.

For what it's worth, I have the same issue. I've been searching Mud and the intertubes with ever more clever advanced searches to no resolution yet. I've seen a few people call it out then go silent. Like you I've looked at the parts schematic and end up scratching my head, not yet sure I want to start pulling it apart and experimenting without any beta. Since it seems like it's not very common, I've considered replacing the seat entirely. Anyway, thanks for bring this up. Looking forward to where this thread ends up.

Do your motors also get power and move when you press the button? You can see inside the little hole on the up motor it turn 1/4 then stop, if you put an Allen wrench in that hole of both motors the whole wrench moves so something is happening to the motor. I’m just not sure if the white plastic what I assume are gears are connected. I just don’t understand how both up and down would not work when they are 2 separate motors. Might mess around with this some more today if it’s not raining. I’m wondering if I can move it manually with a wrench maybe it’s seized up somehow. I’ll post my findings if I find anythjng haha.

I have the same issue on one of my '99s, suspect it's a stripped plastic gear as I can hear the motor engaging (the problem is common in the 80 series) but what research I was able to do when the problem first started (years ago), the gears aren't available separate and to replace the whole assembly was $$$. I live with it, but it's sure nice to drive my other '99 with all the seat adjustments!

I bet the worm gear attached to the motor is stripped. This happened on my '99s passenger seat. Since the seat was stuck in a weird position, I took the assembly apart enough I could manually move the seat bottom in position then bolted the assembly back together so the seat bottom would stay in place. I then disconnected the motor so it wouldn't move back into the worn out spot on the gear.

Has anyone made any progress on this? I was messing with my seat and found the up/down not working.

Nope. I wish, other then buying a whole new motor or seat I couldn’t figure out a fix. Tech stream has “driver seat” option, was hoping it unlocked some secrets, however it did not. Seems like my motor is just frozen or something. Bummer

So I finally messed with my seats today. As stated previously, my up/down function was not working. I was able to swap that motor plug with one of the others that I knew was working. I then tried both and confirmed the up/down motor was still having issues. This confirmed it was a motor issue and not a wiring one . I am now on a quest to find a replacement motor.

Anyone make replacement gears for the 100 series, I know they have been available for 80s for awhile..

Not to my knowledge, but I'm keeping my eye on it, would love to fix the adjustment issue.
