I negotiated with State Farm for 3 weeks after I totaled my built 80. They got to a figure that they wouldn't budge on. I hired an appraiser for $500 and got $5100 more (net $4600 after the appraiser's fee). I bought it back and am rebuilding it.
NEVER accept what they are offering as it will always be low. I worked with Monica at Autoloss.com on my deal and was very pleased with the outcome (although I expected more communication and follow-up, which is probably just my profession bleeding over into my hobbies). After she got me the settlement I asked her if she would be willing to offer a discount to mud members, and she said she would.
