Hi All -

When I bought my truck a couple of thousand miles ago, the overflow / reserve reservoir was completely empty. Since then, I have changed the water pump, etc. which meant replacing the coolant. In addition, I pulled the trans cooler lines when changing the starter which meant I got a coolant shower and also the privilege of adding another gallon or so of coolant to top it off.

Since then, it's been dropping about 1/8" below the full line in the reservoir about every 100 miles. Granted, I've only driven it about 250 since then so it could be bubbles working themselves out?

I don't have any coolant leaks that I can spot. Think it's just bubbles and give it a few hundred more miles or start looking for more serious coolant consumption causes?

Thanks!!!

If it's not bubbles I'd search for coolant valley leak on either 200 series or Tundra forums. Affects both, and is somewhat common. Unless you look in the right spots, it doesn't present as a visible leak.

Here's one thread, but there are many.

I agree with @lx200inAR

Try checking under the vehicle for white/pink coolant stains down the bellhousing. Next step is a bore scope under the manifold or ripping out the foam to see better with a flashlight.

If you just did all that work on the system it's probably normal. Even if you squeeze and burp the hoses. If you didn't have low levels before the work it's fine. You could let it run for a while and get up to temp and keep burping it. But 1/8th low after 100 miles is a 1/3 cup ish. If it continues after 500 miles it might be worth checking into.
