that looks like it was a miserable effin ride... that derailleur is nuts. What tires are those, big apples?
The ride was actually pretty fun. Just kept it slow and watched out for cars. The tires are Michelin brand not sure of the model. $20 at the bike shop. This morning was better. All the roads were nice and crunchy :D

Last Wednesday

Not an action shot, just the evidence.

This is my local ride, Shell Ridge Open Space, Walnut Creek, CA. The trail head is one mile or so from my front door. The pictures are taken from a hiking trail on top of the ridge (aptly named "ridge trail). Bikes are only allowed on the fire roads, though. Too bad for the bikes but good for the hikers and dog walkers. First picture is the south side of the ridge, second is the north. The open space continues up to the boundary of Mt. Diablo state park (third picture) You can climb all day if you want...It's nice considering it smack in the middle of suburbia.

This is from my "going away ride" Saturday, 27 December. Regrettably my last group ride with my team in San Antonio (Peak Fitness Racing) and some of my buddies from another local team, Chain Reaction. I'm moving to colder parts at the end of January (Dayton Ohio). :frown:

This is north of Boerne Texas (Waring).

With a stop in Lukenbach.

Wow! I never noticed this section before. I'm an avid cyclist and I love my Land Cruiser! Heaven on the internet??

2mbb, I grew up in Walnut Creek at the base of Mt. Diablo. I started Mt. Biking Shell Ridge in '88. No one was on to us back then so there were no rules against riding the single track. Man it was fun! Pre-suspension of any kind and you got carpel tunnel syndrome from the thumb shifters.

Anyway, I just got back yesterday from 5 days of riding in Arizona. Sunny and warm, SO nice and SO much fun! Here's a few shots from the trip:
