I would like to back pressure test my catalytic converters. I have deleted the PAIR and installed O2 sensors there. The original O2 sensors are still there as plugs but are so rusted I'm hesitant to mess with them. Would using a back pressure test gauge at the ex-PAIR location yield meaningful results?

What is this test, and do I need to add it to my things to obsess about, buy special tools and lay awake worrying? :)

When my front cat blew it started clogging the rear, truck was noticeably louder, y pipe was also split, don’t know if the cat blew first or if y pipe has been leaking before cat. Truck also had real lack of power struggled to do 70mph. You could feel the leak at the y pipe. Once we got it pulled sounded like rocks when we shook it.

I don't have PAIR on my 96, but it seems like it should work. If the cats are providing a significant restriction, the back-pressure should be elevated all the way back to the head, right? Sorry I don't have a better confirmation for you, but you weren't really getting much of an answer, so I'll at least say: I follow your logic.

Seems like it. Will try on Monday, appreciate the response.
