My 2006 LC base tire OEM is: 275/60/R18
What if any possible negative side affects would/could happen with using a 275/65/R18 instead? I can see already that the speedometer would be off a little but, I am more concerned about transmission or VSC system or whatever. i have read a lot about tires but havent really seen anything about possible negative affects on the vehicle due to not using OEM tire size. I know I will probably get roasted for asking the question but, it will be worth it and give me peace of mind when finally making the move and having the tires installed. Thanks in advance.

Have you seen other threads where guys are running 35s? 275 65 18s will be fine

Negatives:
1. Everyone makes fun of your tiny baby tires
2. You feel deep regret Everytime you look upon your tiny tires.
3. JK...you will not notice a difference if they are still P rated

They will be fine. Wheel speed sensors (which control the VSC/TRAC/ABS systems) are mostly concerned about their relative speed to one another (i.e. one reads 0mph, the other reads 30mph).

"one another (i.e. one reads 0mph, the other reads 30mph)." Could that cause the VSC or ABS not to engage because of false readings? Only asking because I am not entirely sure how or why VSC or ABS engage. (still learning)

The main reason for a smaller tire is because if I am being honest with myself about how much off road versus on road, its probably around 90% on road and 10% off road, so I would like to get somewhat descent gas mileage but at the same time be able to do handle some off road when I can get the time. Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W 265 /65 R18 114T SL RBL is what I am wanting to install.

265/65 R 18 = 31.5" = That should work well.

you can keep the "big" tire look, but get a lower load rating...that will give you a lighter tire.
If you were to buy the Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W 's what size would you suggest?

Nobody here has done a test so you won't get anything better than anecdotal evidence on this.

My anecdote, I ran a 275/65/18s for 2 years (Michelin LTX M/S2) before swapping over to a 275/70/18 which I've had on for 3 years. Over that time, I've never had a problem with my ABS, VSC, a-trac or any part of the 4 wheel drive system.

275/65/18 is a great size, still plenty of P-metric options, little increase in weight, and minimal speedo error. The car behaved no different than with a 275/60 other than it rode better (new, better tires) and it looked better.

Regarding a 265/65/18, that size wouldn't be my choice because, imo, even the 275 looks a bit narrow. I think you'd be well served with a 275/65, 285/65, or 275/70.

And you believe that going from an SL to E1 wont heavily affect gas mileage? Thats 61#(E1) vs 48#(SL) thats a 13# swing.

I think your answer(s) finally pushed me to a final decision but, also thanks to all that commented.

Falken Wildpeak at 275/70/18 will be a E load tire 10ply... you’ll see it in your fuel consumption and acceleration from zero. It will go down significantly.

I ordered mine in SL at 265/70/18. 4ply. 8:2 ratio for hiway vs. Offroad.

Original tires were 275/60/R18 michelin LTX m+s

Now to get rid of these 285/60/R18 ROADONE Cavalry MT's - have around 300 miles on them.

So Discount Tire is telling me that the 275/65R18 will rub because its beyond the 3% diameter width? i am running complete stock 2006 LC.
