Hello everyone! I recently found a mechanic with experience wrenching on LC's and he thought these might be locking axles, he advised me to check with you all. The truck is registered as a 96 but has the exhaust setup from a 94 and a salvage title so it may have been put back together after it was stolen from donor vehicles. What do you think? Sorry could not get better pics laying in the parking lot at my office.

Thanks, Cory

those look like lockers.
x2

Pop the hood, on the passenger side you should see the harness running up from the axle towards the firewall with a connector, that then runs into the passenger kickpanel/glove box area with the locker ECU.

NXLTACY the mechanic owns a Subaru shop but has a soft spot for Landcruisers. He was fairly certain but had not had many 80's in or any with lockers. Thanks all!

What about the magic dial on the inside?

Locker actuators....check
Next to see if you have wires connected to them & then open the RH kickpanel to see if you have the locker ECU / relays.
A couple bulbs, and the rotary switch, maybe a few more wires in the floor harness as well & you'll have all the parts.

Switch / knob to the left of the steering wheel?

Yarr, there be lockers here... but, yeah, sounds like the switch, etc is missing... What Linus said...
get them wired up, you already have the expensive parts...

Definitely OEM lockers. If no dash switch then math have been swapped into unlocked rig. Have done this to several rigs. Adding switch and wiring is not too hard. Beware smog testing for a 94 is very different than for a 96. John

Good is that you are prewired in dash for the switch, and the cluster just needs bulbs & the holders. Additionally, socket for the RH kickpanel ECU is there, as is the wiring on RS firewall in engine bay for front locker wire harness.

The floor harness either needs 4 wires, or not if a locker harness or any LX450 floor harness, from there you need a sub-harness & then a final rear harness to wire up the rear, assming they aren't there & you use all factory wires.
I'd expect those actuators need a clean/lube too, so if wiring doesn't kick them then look there 1st if a ohm-meter verifies you have power in harness.
