MileHi
Anyone know where I can find a list of all the gaskets that could possibly leak oil on a 60? I have a suspect front seal, oil pan gasket, and something around the oil filter, but would really like to find and replace all possible leak gaskets. Any help would be appreciated.

My timing gear gasket is definately toast...I'm losing a quart every couple weeks..

hell yeah it is.... It leaks nothing of course when its parked.

I think I am leaking here also. It is hard to replace it?

Not a high banana job but tight quarters and stuff to remove=labor intensive

I guess I need to set aside a Sunday... thanks for the answer.

You will need a puller to remove the Harmonic Balancer (aka Crank Pulley) and a big breaker bar and 43mm? socket. You will also need a puller to pull the timing gear if you are going to replace the thin paper gasket behind the timing gear plate. The timing gear plate has a brass oiler thingy screwed in it. If the threads of the oiler are screwed too far through the plate, then the thin paper gasket cannot do it's job and it will leak..ask me how I know. I watched/helped with the repair of one of mine and it is a PITA. There was some concern about getting the cam and distributor out of time. As I recall the mechanic removed the fuel pump and blocked the cam from moving with a big screwdriver. Also, there are short and long 10 mm bolts on the timing gear cover and there IS an order to how they go. Good luck!

I don't think all that is needed to keep the cover from leaking (the inner gasket stuff) I think you can keep the gears in place and just remove the crank pulley, belts and get just the cover off right?

Sounds like a big job.

Yep, if that is where it is leaking. Either way, this is an opportunity to split the fan shroud.

So, definaltely not a apartment parking lot job..
