Alright- so i have an 84 60 and a 92 80. I am tossing around the idea of swapping the 60 body onto the 80 chassis. Obviously, the body mounts will need to be re done but i still have a few questions. Currently scrolling through project uranus build but wanted to make a few notes here and see what you guys know..

  • What needs to be done as far as wheel base? Shock towers or any other mounts need to be altered in any way? Obviously this would result in a custom driveline
  • I would be using the 2f (converting to 2fe)- anyone know if these mount up the same as the 3fe? Would motor mounts need to be moved? I would be sticking with the 60's trans and t case as well.
  • Fuel tank?
  • Everything else i am missing?
I am clearly just beginning the fantasy phases but figured it couldnt hurt to throw it out there. Thanks!

Oh yeah! I remember following that build. Such a disaster....

He went a pretty different route than i did. Mines on a much stricter budget. No big v8's or diesel. Keeping it all stock for now. Using everything from the 60 except frame, suspension, axles, and fuel injection

Gotcha.

I do know the 2F and 3 FE use a different PS motor mount and, I believe, the PS frame mount differs to accommodate.

As far WB, project X2 should depict what's required to shorten the 80 frame.

All the suspension mounts are on the 80 chassis, so fitting the body to accommodate would be the hurdle, not moving them, since you're sticking with. 80 axles.

So then the wheel bases are the same? Would think the odds are stacked against me for having the 80 wheels match up with the 60 wheel wells.
