Nope. Not the man. Just a regular dipsh@t who happens to like the smell of old stale gas...and this 55 did not disappoint. The pig did run nice and smooth once we fed it with a bottle. No knocks. No smoke. With some fuel system and driveline tweaks, I think it is going to be a good runner. Congrats again, Patrick, for taking the leap of faith to put this piggy back on the road.

He is the man!! He just wont accept it and his wife wont believe us

I would have told Patrick the 55 was dead, charge him $50 to take it away, then keep it for myself!

Dave came over last night and we got the slave and fuel pump swapped out. Truck moved forward but not in reverse, It appears to have been a seized ebrake, but the cable snapped so now I have reverse Dave’s the man.

All,
I appreciate everyone that has helped with either advise, technical knowledge, or just moral support with the pig. The Niland household has unfortunately been dealt some financial setbacks recently. We have had about $10k is unplanned expenses this spring, and we found out not too long ago that our foundation will require about the same in repairs.

The pig has come a long way, but it still has a ways to go. I cant in good conscious keep putting money into it, when their are more important priorities on the home front. When I bought the truck sight unseen I was told it just needed a new clutch. This turned out to be far from the truth, and I quickly reached, and exceeded my project budget.

I would like to keep this truck local and in the club so I will start a FS thread in ONSC first. If it doesn't sell here, ill post it in the general classified forum. I am going to be asking $4,250 for the truck and all the spare parts. I will have more details in the FS thread but if anyone is interested, please let me know. I have been struggling with this decision for a week or so, but it is the right thing to do for the family.

Cheers,
Patrick

I wanted to let everybody know that this little piggy followed me home last week. The plan is to build upon the work that Patrick has already done and make more improvements. There is a lot of work to do on this truck and I've already started on some of it. I'll create a build thread soon and keep everybody updated. Wish me luck. I'm going to need it!

Have you found your 70 series yet to complete the collection?

Stay in touch with Sam, it should only be a few years before ones avail locally. :)

Just want to to say thanks again Dave for all the help while I did have it. It was disappointing to see it go, but it was the right thing to do. Looking forward to seeing what someone with actual ability can do with it.

My goal is for the truck to be in decent enough shape for you to wheel it at RR2019.

Outstanding!
And when I grow up, I still want to be Dave!

Out of the loop but does that make an 80, 100, 60 and 55 for you? Or do you have a 40 also?
Awesome score Dave

Al, I’ve got the Crockpot too, so 40 series is covered. I guess I’m what you might call a glutton for punishment. I surely did not need this 55 but in the interest of keeping it in the club and being able to keep Patrick in the loop with the build, he and I worked it out for me to be the new caretaker. I’m glad to have it.
