Howdy Jack;
Sorry I'm so late to the party: I just don't have much surf time anymore. The problem with this poll, as I see it from a marketing guys perspective...is that "yer preachin' to the choir here."
Us "sick bastids" that got nothing better to do than surf mud and pirate, and everything else cruiser related til the enxt event are in a distinct minority.
Only about 25-30% of TLCa mebers are chapter affiliated. I'm sure all you muthas who frequent the event circuit have noticed that you see maaaaany of the same folks at maaaaany of the same events.
I personally like see all youse mugs out there

But be aware: most TLCA members join for the pretty magazine.
Here in TornadoAlley, we've made a concerted effort to have non-wheeling chapter events, and to try to promote them outside our circle of the usual suspects...by putting up fliers at NAPA, at the Toyota delaership parts, service, and sales counters, putting flyers on pakred toyota windshields...you catch my drift?
I looove Kowboy. I love the Par-tic-i-pation Mantra. But, it's my considered opinion upon considerable reflection, observation of the cruiser community, events circuit, serving on the TLCA board for approaching 10 years...that Joe member sin't going to participate at the level, or at the events that "we" typically go to.
Have a picnic. Have a show-n-shine. Have a swap meet. Have a float trip. Have the crew over to watch gollf on the shop while you build a bumper. Get the kids together while the dad's gawk at a new lift kit....Rinse and repeat. From what I've seen, the "community and camraderie" built this way is *the only thing* that will draw non-wheelers anywhere near a trail. "Oh, you and Jimmy are wheeling this weekend? Huh, maybe I'll give that a shot."
