Even some strong endura will do or real leather..

I guess more than anything I'm asking about references for a good upholstery shop/person around Salt lake..

Do they sell pre made covers..??

Core/base covers in real Leather, not el cheapo seat protectors.

The foam feels fine, if anything building a little more of a "Waist" will be nice (more like a racing seat shape) I can do all that, I just don't have a walking foot to build the covers.

Several recent threads on replacement leather in the forum.

Lseat
is another option if your patient. Leather Seat Covers | Custom Leather Interior | Replacement Seat Covers | Lseat.com Middle of the road quality, about the same price as good seat covers. Real leather.

Search here or Google Lseat reviews and you'll find what you need.
Wow, What...??

How can they make them so cheap...??

I don't care if they are not perfect as long as they are strong and long lasting, in fact they will look out of place if they were..

Thanks, I'm really glad I ask..

I read the biggest key to successful fit on the Lseat is getting them steamed while installing. Makes the final fit look very good. They also offer a perforated option. I will be going that route when I am ready to re-cover.

The lseat covers have been previously described here as being of lower quality leather, more like sofa leather that won't last. Considering the low price this makes sense. I have requested 3 swatches from them to compare colors. I'll report back with my take on the leather quality when I get them.

what colors are you looking at? I need the tan that would be in a 2001 white lx470 and it's hard to tell from their color chart... looks like 2-3 are close...

Dim Grey, Dove Grey and Tan. I received an email response that simply said "Ok" after I requested them, so we'll see if they actually show up before Christmas.

Would be happy to send them on to you if you're interested in any of those colors.

I got samples trying to match the grey of my interior. My samples were not close and they were rather thin. Haven't tried to request any more.

Granted the price is on the low end, and that usually translates to lower quality, but I wouldn't say it was similar to sofa leather. Its more akin to "Dakota" leather that you'd find in a base model BMW. These swatches I have in front of me look and feel durable. There are 17 color options, 16 are textured leather, and one, Ecru white, is smooth like whats found in the LC or LX.

Pontyl- check the ecru swatch and match that up against your seat, it might be close.

In my opinion, the OEM leather sucks- it simply doesn't age well. The grade of leather is supple, but is too soft for long term durability.

Thanks for sharing your experiences Dwight and abuck. I have not written them off yet, my LX hooptie has 205K mi so dropping almost a grand on just front leathers might be a dim move on my part. If the lseat covers look durable I might pull the trigger on some tan ones if the greys don't match.

I wouldn't write them off, especially considering the price. The samples I thought would be close just weren't. I will find my samples and post up the color codes so you don't order the same if you want to order samples.

Maybe easier to clip a small piece of leather/vinyl from under a seat and send it to Lseats and see if they can match.

my driver seat is quickly developing a pit on the left side. i was told its possible to buy a replacement form for the seat. but i know the foam can be steamed out too. anybody tried to fix the seat sag?

Roadwire leather sells kits for our rigs. Find a dealer near you and see what they will charge. I am about to put there brown kit in my 99 and probably go perforated inside and run seat coolers.

Has anyone experienced the LC Heaven leather yet?
More than the Pleather my issue with the seats is the lack of lateral and overall support and the "CHeapness" of the foam, well is 20 something years old, degassing/uv rays, million big butts on top of it, not the seats fault for the most part...

I'm asking some favors trying to find some really high end foams (from my motorcycle saddle makers friends/clients, they have them specially formulated) no Spenco Gel is no bueno..

Then after testing and testing and many layers of foam, glues and shaped, then and only then to need to make new molds for the leather pattern..

What a great excuse to get a proper upholstery sewing machine..

@Patineto - Have you joined and tried posting over on Wasatch Cruisers?

Great group of people and since they're local they have a lot of experience with businesses in the valley and surrounding areas.

Just a suggestion.
