my 69, got it for 800 custom 4 inch lift blocks welded to frame, 38's, rear axle moved back, cracked and rusted top, and lots of surface rust, decent sbc 350 swap, various parts from different vehicles, and all kinds of little home done goodies, but it does run and drive great

What I started with was a Sep 74 with a1.5F and just over 83,000 original miles and a hard life for $750. then sold the tires and wheels for $500. and other misc parts (webber carb/mallory dist./other) and ended up with $50 total investment

and only came across a couple who have rolled...in one case the factory roll bar help up well, and luckily the driver only got a few scratches!

They hold up surprisingly well, I'm living proof.

I rolled my 40 at about 50 mph with a rag top on. Shredded the top of course, wind shield and frame disappeared, and when I finally came to rest (back on my wheels) the corner of the roll bar that is normally behind your head was almost touching the dash pad in front of me.
I only ended up with 3 stitches on my knee out of that because the soft doors blew off at some point and I guess my knee hit the road or something, and that was it. Well, 3 stitches and a traffic ticket for driving too fast for conditions or something like that.

I had also swapped out the stock lap belt for a regular shoulder type, I'm sure that helped considerably as well.

I never did get any pictures of it unfortunatly, but it is ingrained in my memory pretty good.

Got this one with a partial project. PO came rolling down a hill with it when the pignion shaft snapped. Was thinking of parting it out but the wife thinks it is better to keep it for play.
So wil be the next project.

Eshu Elegua that tan one looks like the one in my garage minus those wheels!. Still really looking forward to fixing it up when I am done with the 1962. The other day my 10 year old daughter realized the windows rolled up and down by turning the handle. She thinks that is so cool not to have a button but an actual crank. I remember when it was first cool to have a button instead of a window crank. She now know what it means when some one says roll down the window.
