I'm a novice on all things body & paint so if I use the wrong term please forgive me. Here's my vehicle: 1988 Fj62, original royal blue paint. Some areas still have the smooth glossy "clear coat" and some areas are starting to get the less glossy/faded feel & look. However when I give her a good bath and wax the color still pops really nicely...even on the normally less glossy/fading areas. I've hand applied Turtle Wax paste, and used my buffer to remove, but its a PITA to remove and I usually end up getting after it really hard with a soft hand towel. I've also tried McGuiers easy on/easy off liquid wax and it seems to work OK, but also seems like it needs to be applied more often.

Any recommendations on a good wax product and regiment for my vehicle. Once the snow stops falling I'd like to give her a really good bath, pull her into the garage and then spend a couple hours waxing. Product? Number of coats? Do multiple coats actually help? Frequency in which to apply? Type of buffer application pads/towels? Type(s) of buffer removal pads/towles?

I'm all in for spending extra time if a certain product requires it, but hopefully something easier to remove than the turtle wax paste.

thanks in advance

p.s. I've heard that applying wax to the windows helps bead-up water. Does anyone here do that?

x2 on wizards. Great products and they smell nice too.

I would buff it with some good quality compounds using the proper buffing pads. I would start with a heavy machine compound with a wool pad and finish things off with a light swirl remover with a foam pad. I like Meguire's compounds. Remember to test in an inconspicuous place first.
