So, I rebuilt the entire motor last January, and rebaselined everything. New alt, starter, fuel filter, etc.

6 months in and the starter began to fail. I'd have to bang it to get it to start. Or get a jump.

So tonight I ended up replacing the starter. It was warrantied out. It's a reman from Oreilleys.

Install went well.

Until I tried starting it. First start worked great! Let it warm up a minute. Then I shut it off and tried again. NO BUENO. It does not sound happy.

See this video.

WTH is going on?

Thanks

Scott

PS. Pardon the dirty cruiser, went out in the forest last week.

Update....I did inspect the flexplate and do see some weird "shiny metal" marks on some teeth. Assuming that is the issue. Teeth I can see look good however.

I never “fully” understood why so many people preached “OE parts” until I owned my first Toyota.....Now I’ll wait if they don’t have a OE part I need. No sense in doing it twice. Good luck.

I like to rebuild my starters, with the components, then I know it was not some hack job parts are cheap and it is easy, also try you relay and ground wires

1 person that gives bad review is BS

in any case this is bad SELECTION - REMAN STARTER, DENSO IS THE OE, 1.4 KW, w/o COLD SPEC

The 66050 is a one year only 2.2 kw starter. It is replaced by the 66060/66060-84.

OK, thanks. Looking forward to the OEM version!
