Please explain location for headlight washers

Hey all,

I recently purchased a 1985 FJ60 with a stock headlight washer system. The bottle was old and cracked. I just received a new bottle and installed it, but when I crawled into the cab to test the pump motor function........

Can someone please tell me where the switch is or supposed to be? I am posting both sides of the dash of my rig for reference.

if you have one, please indicate on my photos or post a photo of the switch in it's stock location. That will help me if I need to order a switch or search for the wiring plug behind the dash.

For the headlight washer to work, you need to put the the light switch in parking light position and then engage the widshield washer. This should do it.

That little trick worked! I got some tube and nozzle cleaning to do, but she runs!

I suppose that trick was in the owners manual. If there's more tricks like that to learn I'll probably need to get the manual.

That headlight washer controlled by the parking light switch is along the same lines as the same switch controlling the light inside the glove box. I thought that it just came on by opening the glove box door. For the longest time I thought that the light was burnt out until one day I discovered that it goes on with the parking light.

Where did you get a "new" one? Mine is cracked to. PO left a wrench on it and closed the hood. Still has the top...for now. Haven't seen any on any of the "bays".

I checked it out a long time ago...they are expensive. I got a used one from cruiserparts.net. much cheaper.

there is also a plug under the glovebox for a factory light.

on ebay, fj40 has the plug in the glove box...60 has it under it on the right side

Spector Off Road. It was not a Toyota part but a decent reproduction that looks and works great! I got dueling bidets for my headlights!

Man, that pump puts out a lot of water on the headlights. No wonder the bottle is so big.

i've never used the headlight washer on my 84. is the resevoir just behind the rad overflow? i assume it is since it's got a pump but haven't checked so i never put fluid in it. also thx for the tip on the glovebox lamp. i'm going downstairs now to see if mine works.

Box Bulb Blunders

I've changed my glove box bulb twice. Never worked, was gonna some day "fix it". read this post went down the garage did the headlight switch...Glove box fixed!! I've never opened it at night while the lights were on...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

the other deal that got me on my first 60 was the rear heater only blowing if the front heater blower was on. That took a whole winter to figure out..that was in 1996 and I don't think Ih8mud existed, I just blundered around trying to figure this stuff out...Yes to MUD!
