In the middle of 90K timing belt job. Removed the power steering pulley to allow the alternator to slide forward and found about 1/16th axial play in the pump shaft. Normal?

Bump. Anyone had the accessory belt off recently and noticed play in the ps pulley. My play is axial (in-out) not lateral. Just looking to confirm this is normal. About 1/16th.

Thanks Dan! Ya, I'm probably close to 3/32 but less than 1/8.

Old thread... but seems like I have same issue on my 100. Shaft is loose and causes the serp belt to move front to back when truck is running. It's noticeable and makes a clanking sound. Do I need a new pump or can I rebuild/fit it?

Yeah buddy can you get a longer video of that? Like 5 to 7 minutes of that motion. That will help confirm this is the same problem others are experiencing
