Plastic teeth in the oil pan???

16 hrs.....not in my garage...more like a week. Head off, both pans, and all the way to the front cover. If you have been there before it is virtually a total tear down. I pulled my motor to do my HG (my rear main was on the list too) and I still lost my nerve to pull the front cover off. I measured my slipper and with 200k on my truck I was half way to worn out. I came to the conclusion it was designed to last untill you needed bottom end work/ a rebuild.

You would be crazy to put it back together without replacing anything that was rubber, anything that has coolant touching it and every O-ring, gasket or seal. 2K for a chain slipper

I found the same thing in my sump when I pulled my engine down for unrelated issues. I dare say it had been like that for some time and created no issues.

I wouldn't bother about it. It would be a safe bet that there is still more than enough guide to keep the chain in check for a long time to come.

I hope so, but if not she will get a new engine and we will go another 300k+ :)

how big are these chunks? I'd like to see them before saying drive it and forget it.

Also, what color is the goop holding in the half moon plugs on the front of the head?

If it's grey then the head has likely not come off. If black then maybe it is left over bits from a repair but unlikely as the pans need to be removed so service the slippers.

I will check the color of the adhesive. Ithought the same thing about them being in there unless somehow they passed afterwards.

Yeah I couldn't see that in 16 hours.

Takes me as one guy just under 16 hours to pull and reinstall the head, and while I certainly don't claim to be the fastest mechanic, I don't think i can lift/remove the engine, drop the pans, remove the timing cover, replace the parts, and put it all back in those 2 hours.

Seriously, like I said, way too much work to commit to because of some plastic chips out of your chain slipper. Unless you have another job you want to do somewhere along the way that is also not trivial, or you just love mechanic work, don't.
