I sold my Conquerer trailer not long ago and am thinking about putting the following together. My idea is to have a platform that I can load with boxes to keep the weight down. The conquerer was heavy, ~1500 lb empty. I'd end up storing boxes in the trailer anyway to have some organization so why not get rid of the sheet metal. Picture it going down the road with a canvas top to keep the wet and muck out.
Thought I'd pass it by the group.

I'd never heard of the Conqueror trailer before so I looked it up and that's pretty sweet! That's the same basic design of our expo trailer we're building. They do end up being on the heavy side for sure! Your plan is great IMO especially if your not going through rivers and your mostly just overland, plus you end up with a more versatile trailer. You thinking of putting in sides too removable/permanent?

Yes. I have plans to skin the top and put barriers on the front and sides.

I'v also been toying with a sleeping platform if I choose to improve upon it later.
