Pipe cap complete!

I started a thread in the 40 section on diff protection and a wise mudder directed me here. I protected both of my drain plugs with a 1/2" piece of 3" x .180 wall tube and the bottom of each diff with a piece of .120 plate. So I am trying to find a 10" pipe cap for the front diff and a was asked if I want schedule 80 or schedule 40. Can anybody enlighten me as to what would be best for my front diff?

Either will be just fine.

Sure sounds like it! The guy told me that schedule 40 is .365 wall and sc 80 is .500 wall !!! With that, could use a lot of "bump" to get up and over!

I had that cap shipped to dirtgypsy...IIRC it was like 9 lbs for the whole cap.

I nailed it on the Rubicon and laughed!

Its a pretty sweet lil mod to do and not too expensive.

I got a little sticker shock when a local guy yesterday told me it would be $61 plus $20 frt out of StL Mo. So $80 for the cap!! Problem with a small town, limited options. Now I'm thinking of just fabbing something out of some scrap .250 plate I have for a free mod.

I got it for 47 from Ferguson plumbing.
Might see if you have one of them there...
Might also consider that you SPLIT that cost, so it'd actaully only be 40 bucks provided someone else wanted the other half.
