Found a pintle hitch which will mount to a 40 @ Western Star Truck shop.

20,000 lb rating, 4000 lb tung weight... Only $76 Canadian (likely cheaper in USA)

Also has 2" ball for smaller trailers.

FYI, I don't recommend towing 20,000 lbs with a 40... Even though it'd probably be able to pull it :D

It was similar, bot also had a 2" ball like the one here...

Probably over kill for a FJ40 even the ball which is only rated for 10,000#. But I would like one. I have a couple of 1/4 ton trailers I tow around and thinking of picking up a small fishing boat. This would work great. I like the look of this style compared to the ones you use the regular ball with the threaded stud. Not concerned which is stronger because either is over kill for what a FJ40 is reated to tow.

It would be fun to answer UHauls "What's your hitch rated for?"with 10,000 lbs. :D

I Agree it's overkill, but it seems like a more economical option than the $115 Curt reciever hitch + $20 Ball mount + $10 ball = $145. FYI a 1992-2000 Mitsubish Montero hitch will fit an FJ40.

Now if only I didn't have to drop the auxillary tank to unbolt the hitch... I don't think I should used the hot wrench now :hillbilly:
