February 12- Pillsbury Mud & Snow Run Lake Pillsbury 8:45 am, Leave at 9:00am
from the Air Strip (Don Gatton will track weather and road closures for us)

Did Imiss this on Sunday? I thought it was this coming Saturday 18th?.
The weather looks great...mountains are getting a nice dusting of snow and all trails are open in the Upper Lake ranger district.

I didn't go last weekend...I looked to check the calendar here on mud and it said the 12th of feb. First reaction was wtf, then realized last year we had it on the 12th. Dave's post on the calendar had the right date.
All trails are open and getting muddy. Trails are getting a good dusting of snow at the higher elevations and might make it challenging to get to the lookout.I plan to swing by and pick up some OHV maps from the ranger station.
Weather calls for showers on sat so dress for cold.
I'm bringing a chainsaw.
AND Bill it would be great to see the Stayners up here on a run. Hope you can pull it off.

I will be going and camping Fri night at oak flats. Anyone is welcome to stay with us. Driving a red Ram, and green Yota. Can't wait, this is my first TLCA, PMC run, really looking forward to it!!

PM petescoffee for specific directions.

101 North to just past Ukiah
Take off on hwy 20 east
turn north to Potter Valley
Turn right ( IIRC) at store, switch back up steep ass hill after that.
Should be signed from there.
Oak flat campground entrance is just past air strip a few 100 yds if that.

This Saturday
February 18, 2012 Mud and Snow Run

By far one of the biggest club run is the Mud and Snow Run. This is a great run for all types of rigs, though you may get a few brush scratches in the paint. Run will leave the Air strip at 9am so be early so you don’t get left behind. If you have one, make sure your CB works and that you bring your antenna. If you don’t have one get behind someone who does on the trail and make sure someone else is behind you. Bring warm clothes, Camera and some lunch. Post pictures up on IH8MUD after the run to share with those that did not make it. There is camping in the area if you want to go up early, post up where you want to camp and others may join in. Oak Flat is open year Round Check with forest service on which camp grounds are open.

They have gotten some snow already and with any luck will have a bunch more. With or without this always a nice day on the trails. Be sure to check the web site at CA- Pacific Mountain Cruisers forum for any last minute instructions.

Here is the Forrest Service Link to the Area: Press Ctrl key and Left Click on your mouse to follow link

Forest Service If you do camp out prepare for cold weather bring dry wood, warm sleeping bag and clothes.

Directions:
North on 101
Take Hwy 20 East towards Clear Lake.
Turn off to the left towards Potter Valley.
Turn right on Eel River Rd (signs say Lake Pillsbury & there's a little store and bar there on the corner)
Go over main bridge after the turn off for the logging road to go on the county road.
Turn right onto county road after crossing the bridge over the Eel River.
Once you get to the 4 way stop at Soda Creek - turn left towards the lake and campgrounds and you'll run into the Gravelly Valley Air Strip and all the cruisers.

Allow at Least 1 hour 15 minutes from Ukiah Denny's per Tony ( takes me 1hour 25, but I drive slow). Fill up with gas in Ukiah if you need to.

If you have not renewed your membership you may do so at the run.

Please Post up on i8hmud.com if you plan on going.

Also check the website the night before to make sure there are no last minute changes.

This is just a repost from the email incase you missed it

Not going to make it :(

flywheel/pressure plate came apart on the ford on the way home from the hammers, will be replacing that over the weekend.

Sorry to hear that Bill, there must be a story to go along with that road trip. Have you ever sat down with Big Jim to compare experiences? And speaking of Big Jim...Pillsbury is now a backyard run for him. Are you coming Jim? or Roger or Tim?

I am planning to make the run. See you at 9 AM
