True, and that was my hardest decision, but i decided to go with more clearence. I haven't had any issue yet, and i had half the weight of the truck on them. You really have to hit hard to get it deformed...I wasn't going to do real hardcore wheeling so they are perfect for what i do.

Yes, they will hold up, but if you give them a good "side" hit they will deform. If they are hit from the bottom no problem, the issue will be if you hit them hard from the side, this can happen when crawling through rocks and the truck sways from side to side and you take a hit from the side on a rock. Just something to mention. I used to have just the metal body strips and bent them inward on the rubicon, had to bend everything back using a high lift braced on the frame. Another thing to think about is having some sort of "kickout" as others have shown. This has helped me numerous times to keep rocks away from the body and keep my doors, etc from being hit with rocks.

Yes it does happen often, you try to climb on something then you slide sideways and hit the other side, that is how i trashed my original board and bended my rocker panel. I guess it hasn't happen hard enough to bend it, and i have 2 U shape channel from the inner slider to the frame to prevent this. But i agree no mather how strong you try to make them, sideways they are not like real sliders not bolted to the body.

2x4 rectangle tube with 2" round tube bent up around the outside.
Keeps me pretty far from trees.

Here's a bad pic of mine, bought them from a guy who was selling them at the greyrock ride back in october. Known as choctaw sliders. Built real tough.

Those are nice but kind of remind me of Wrangler molded side steps.
