SILVER Star
This was an epic trip to say the least. Three LRs from Chicago, three 80's from California and two 80's met up in Grand Junction for the start of the Kokopelli trail. The cool thing was that the three groups met up in Grand Junction, CO within half an hour of each other. There was suppose to be a 100 series who was suppose to go with us from NM but Dan experienced drivetrain trouble so he didn't make the Kokopelli trail but he did join us for the Hole in the Rock trail.
The Kokopelli trail is a very scenic with varying types of terrain. Most of the trail is doable with a high clearance vehicle with the exception of the Rose Garden obstacle which was just plain knarly. Onur went back up this obstacle and made it but not before breaking a rear driveshaft. He is the only one tried this obstacle.
The K trail runs from Fruita, CO to Moab and it took us only three days to cover the entire trail. Some parts of this trail mimmicks the white rim trail with its breath taking scenery from what I'm told. We had to build a little bit of trail on one occasion and use waffle boards on another occasion. The waffle board stabilized the trail so that we didn't plummet to our deaths.
The Hole in the Rock trail is only 35.5 miles long but it took all of three days. This trail goes from mild to wild with obstacles that can be found in the Golden Spike trail. There was a chute, many ledges, rocky terrain, sandy washes and slick rock slabs.
As usual, the food and company was great and the weather cooperated with us. All vehicles performed flawlessly and there was minimal breakage. In many pics you'll see the hoods are open, that's because we've been cooking burritos, baby back ribs, carnitas, etc on the manifolds.
The pics are coming in and here's the first set of pics: pic link
