Found a screaming deal on a set of 305/70R16 BFG Mud Terrain KM's. Good thing was they were $200, bad part is they were 120miles away. So I grabbed a buddy and tested my new '94 on its first (to me) 250mile round trip.

Not something I was eager to do with gas prices at $4/gal but i couldnt pass this deal up. The truck did great however, and according to my smartphone i got 16.8mpg... so $80 in gas & 4hrs on the road I end up home with these :D

They just so happen to the be the right size, i couldnt believe how I lucked out! Yesterday as soon as I woke up I started lookin for the cheapest place to get them mounted & ballanced. I can't believe what shops want to mount & ballance a set of tires... makes me want to just invest in a machine to do it myself!

But of course, it had to be done... so $110 later they are on the truck and lookin gooooooood :p

I am still hesitant, but I think I want to remove the fender flairs. The wife likes them. I am still undecided. We will see when it comes time to build the front bumper :)

$110, ouch. That is a spicy meatball.

Just got my 285s mounted with brand new stems for $58. But of course I bought brand new online...

If you decide to remove the flares the holes are easily filled with plastic hole plugs (sorry I forget the technical name) you can get from most hardware stores. All you need to do is make the holes round with a step bit and buy the proper plugs, they come in black and white.

Do you guys have an issue with the law if the tyre is outside the bodyline? In the UK and most of europe you should not be able to see the tread if looking directly from above.

I know there are no issues (legal) with running tires way outside of the body line here in the states in Kentucky. People run all sorts of crazy wide offset wheels and tires outside of the fenders.

Although I am not sure why you want to or what the attraction to that is. The vehicles I see with wheels and tires running outside the body line look pretty bad to me. Matter of preference I guess, just looks pretty silly and tacky in my opinion. Plus picking up debris and slinging it over yourself and anyone around you.

The Landcruisers without the flares look great, as well as with them. The tire looks to be about even with the outside of the fender, not sticking out too bad.

I prefer the car with the flares in place and agree that not only do wheels sticking outside the bodyline look stupid, except you guys running the 'hiboy' (is that right?) with no flares whatsoever, but it can also be dangerous with stones and road debris flying about.

It's decided state by state, in Hawaii that is the law but it's rarely enforced.

You guys can pretty much do what you want with your cars as in the UK (within reason) but here in Spain simply removing the tow bar requires a visit to the testing station to prove it has been removed correctly and then the log book has to be altered to show it has been removed. If you fit/remove a tow bar without having it documented you can get a fine!

I love this country (Spain) but some of the laws are ridiculous, I have found that most if not all countries have some silly laws but they are not enforced, here in Spain they are! For example the tow bar law, or not being allowed to drive wearing flip flops or beach shoes, and god forbid you have a bag of shopping on the back seat when you are stopped for the never ending alcohol breath tests which incidentally I fully agree with.

Whilst it is true the weather is (generally) great and the campo (countryside) is nothing short of stunning if I was to return to the UK (or go to another country) it will be because of the often pointless red tape.
