Hey Guys,

I'm getting close to making a purchase on tires to replace my OEM Michelins (275/70-16). My truck is basically 100% stock 2001 LandCruiser (River Mica Green with 144,000 miles), and from the posts I've found here it seems like people have been able to use either the 285 or 295 sizes without issue on a stock suspension... ( I think I recall seeing one person claiming some minor rubbing at full steering lock?)

Anyway, I'd love to see some profile shots from guys who are running these tires (either size) and comments about fitment, rubbing, speedometer error, useful tire pressures used, etc. I'd also like to know if anyone is running wheel spacers (Spidertrax, etc) to push the stock wheels out for a more aggressive look.

I'm not really interested in seeing 17" (or larger) wheel combos, or trucks with suspension lifts installed.... that stuff is all cool, but it won't really serve me in decision-making on a final tire size.

I realize that the difference between these two sizes is minimal (32.8" vs 33.3") and speedometer error is within 1 MPH of each other (but will read low by about 3MPH on speedo). Pricing is just about identical as well.... it seems like the vast majority of guys are running the 285/75-16 as the upgrade size over stock.... I don't see nearly as many guys running the 295/75-16, so I'm curious to see both if possible and gather whatever feedback you guys are willing to offer!!!

Thanks!

Another tire thread. Have you tried searching?

Yes....

And the aggregate of all those searches led me to create a request for photos.

I'm not asking to be spoon-fed. I've already done a lot of legwork to determine the tire I want, the sizes that are likely to fit..... and the possible unintended consequences of adding a larger tire to an otherwise "unmodified" vehicle.

BTW -> I'm a fan of ORI struts as well, and I'm using them on my "other" 4x4 build. :)

285/75/16 K02s. I don't suspect you'll run into any issues with 295 and SpiderTrax Spacers.

Thanks Duggy,

I saw those pics when I was doing my research, but wasn't sure about AHC and if those photos were taken at the same height as a regular LC "stock" height?

The people with 285s seem to outnumber the 295 crowd by maybe 10:1... I suspect the 295 hasn't been available as long which might be part of the reason.

All of your questions have been covered before just not in a one thread.

I have 285/75/16 KO2. Just did a trip recently where I actually got to use 4 lo and get some flex over a rock garden and zero rubbing or issues as others have confirmed too. No noticeable acceleration difference. Speedometer error is roughly 4mph at 60mph last time I did the math. I run 35 PSI on road and 17 PSI off road.

I realize that the difference between these two sizes is minimal (32.8" vs 33.3")...
Also, the 295's have a section width that is only 10mm wider but the tread width is 15mm wider. The result: the 295's have a slightly 'beefier' look to them as the tire's shoulder is a bit more 'squared off.'

I'd really love to see an installed photo of the 295....

Some of the links (above) show other manufacturers in that size, but I'm really trying to get the "vibe" of the K02... it's got a very distinctive sidewall and square-shouldered design as compared to others and every time I see them on a LC (even a bone stock one) it gives it a much more purposeful and serious offroad look.

My guess is that the "ultimate" combo would be the 295s and a set of Spidertrax spacers....pushing the wheels out that extra 1" per corner would further accentuate the look of the more aggressive tire.

295/75-16 BFG KO's here

Very cool. Thanks!

To clarify, are those the "KO" or "KO2" tires? (pretty sure the "KO" is discontinued, but want to clarify)

Also, your /sig mentions that you are running a 2.5" lift. Is this photo with the lift, or without?

Correct, KO's.

Yes, 2.5 inch lift was installed in this pic. Metal Tech sliders and slee front skid plate, so only approx 200lbs of added weight.

My girl has 295s and a 2.5" lift. Not the greatest shots, but you get the idea. I put on some 1" BORA spacers because they were nearly rubbing on the UCAs.

Nice! Are these photos with the spacers installed or without? The wheels look "flush" so I'm guessing it's "WITH"...

I thought Spidertrax was the only game in town for spacers..... never really like the idea of a bright blue anodized spacer peeking through from behind my wheels, so I guess I will check out BORA as well. Thanks for the lead. :)

Both of those photos are with the spacers installed. You can see in the image below that the side lugs do somewhat stick out, but not terrible. IMO it fills in the fenderwell nicely and gives it a beefier stance. The wheels tuck up with no rubbing on full flex.

Do be aware though, those spacers are made to order by a dude named Lenny in Reno. Hes easy to talk to and is usually pretty good about responding, however I had to wait 1.5 months to receive my spacers since he was so backed up. Because of this, he has some bad reviews on Google+, however I had no issues at all. Quality product IMO.

Cool. I already found the BORA website and was checking it out. Looks like he sells a bunch of different thicknesses for the LC.

Given the chance, would you have gone with maybe the 3/4" thick spacer instead to get the tire just a tad further under the fenders or is the clearance too tight against the UCAs to go smaller than 1"???

BTW, I have zero rub. I just bombed a gravel road last weekend, 55+mph for 30 miles. Aired down to 20psi and it was awesome. Almost got airborne off a cattle guard, suspension fully compressed, zero rub.

I have only had them since the 4th of July but I am in love. Excellent tire and perfect size for a 100. I am bias though, I did two trips to Panama and back on BFG A/Ts with zero issues.

I do not get the above post about running on pavement with 35psi. That seems way low to me for pavement. These are an 80psi max tire. I have ran them at 60psi and right now am trying 55psi rear and 50 front. My shop is all full up or I would just dial them in right for pressure. Which btw folks is easy. Put some chalk or dust or whatever you got on your shop or garage floor. Drive over it and look at the tread pattern. Adjust air pressure until you have a perfect tread pattern.

Cheers

Are you stock height or lifted?
