Phone charger delete possible?

What you dont like putting 2015's iPhone in there or something?
Will your charger fit in my 17' LX? Ill take it off you if it does. Its the only option i dont have.
I would rather use that space for something else, maybe for my ham radio as that stupid cooler thing takes up all the storage and that thing is a PITA to replace, not sure if it can be because of the AC system.
I thought these were standard, what does your LX have in its place?

You have to do a lot of disassembly to get to it.
Sort of shocking, but the whole center console top has to come off to get it out.
Note that the silver cover is a separate piece that pops off easily before removing the center console. But there is a horizontal brace in the way of taking the charger component out that you need to remove after taking out the console top. I set it loosely back in place to show the general location for the photo below.
I wonder if other markets offer a storage box for this module, maybe on the lower spec versions? Try partssouq.com maybe?

Probably. It looks worse than it is in real life. I've had it apart once before (Naviplus install). Getting the radio out this time was 15 min, and then another 15 or so get to the phone charger. In case you are wondering, I did this because I was putting my cell booster antenna on top of the phone charger module.
Mine is just a cubby for a small phone. Someone didn't want to spend $150 on a $100k or just a dealer not paying attention.
Wow, looking at the shape of that insert im not sure its the same on a '16+ LX.

The charging module electronic box takes up at least half of the vertical space. The "cigarette" lighter eats up the left 1/3. There is a lot of space to work with. I am 100% serious when I suggest looking at lower spec ROW models. I'm sure they didn't waste the cost of a charger in low spec models in some geographies. Maybe ask on some of the international groups (Facebook has some good ones).
I really don’t want to rip apart my dash but it looks like that charging box would probably be the same for all models. Are there any exploded parts drawings for this dash area anywhere?

I'm thinking of putting a GMRS in that area. I can put a phone charger in the center console easy.
Are you putting a Ham in there now that you have it apart?
It doesn't take long to take it apart BUT I'm always afraid of breaking a clip.

My 12 Pro doesn't even fit in there with hits tough cover on and even my older gen iphones it didn't like charging for some reason.
Might be different for non Apple products I guess
