Are you looking for new headlights that are classy, very functional, and made by an OEM provider? Then check out the Philips LED 4x6s.

Starting off, these retain the reflector appearance while maintaining a very nice cut off line.
The beam is pretty wide and the throw is excellent for night time driving. There's not a ton of foreground to wash out your vision.
With that being said, I did take some photos of the high beams they're currently aimed close to eachother but each individual hi beam has a pretty good "hot spot" that is easy to aim.
This means that you can get a nice long distance aim when you're on those empty roads and need to light it up. Remember, excess foreground lighting prevents you from seeing well in the dark.

One of the biggest reasons I didn't get generic offbrand 4x6s is simply because:
1. I don't know if they have DOT compliance
2. Not having that DOT compliance usually means they don't have a good cutoff pattern
3. Are they made by a reputable company? Definitely not.

Installation is easy, but keep in mind we have reversed polarity wiring.
All I did was to swap two pins on each of the low beam units.
The high beam units, I installed with the plugs 180°.

I'm going to try and add a short video on the next post.

The video didn't attach. Have some screenshots instead. It is just a quick low to high in my neighborhood where it is very dark. I haven't had a chance to snag good night photos with how late sunsets and early sunrises are.

There's still a tiny amount of "bleed" (or what we call "dirty light" in tactical applications) where you can still see road signs. In the Headlight Junkies realm, we call them squirrel finders.

I retrofitted FX-R HID projectors into my Toyota Pickup and RX350 HID projectors into my Supra. While those have extremely crisp cutoff lines, they did have the tradeoff of not having any soft "light bleed" for me to hunt down road signs with.
For what it's worth, these LED reflectors are impressive for their simplicity, sharp cutoff, long distance throw, and they just look good. No ugly bulbous multi-projector'd LED setup here.
I honestly thought about building my own retrofitted 4x6s, but I definitely wouldn't have been able to keep it under $400.
I'm about to retrofit Morimoto LED Projectors into my Lexus ISF and that is easily double the cost of this project alone.

Also, for the Low Beam pins. Swap the black and white wire. (whichever the ones on the side are. I'll try to snag a photo soon). This is easy if you have a needle point scribe or small flat head screwdriver. Insert it into face side of the connector where the pin release slot is. You'll push the metal tab and it should begin to retract. Easy peasy.

My FJ62 does have an old alternator.
With LED headlights, sidemarkers, and taillights, there's barely any draw on the system. The Voltmeter doesn't drop when you turn the lights on.

Let me know if you have questions.

Interesting

So the H4656LED has both a high and a low beam? And the H4651LED has High beam only?

If so, how does the high beam on the H4656LED compare to the dedicated high beam? Could 4 of them be used for a 4-low / 4-high setup?

Thanks
-Rob

H4656LED appears to be low only from what I can tell. I wish it was dual pattern.
H4656LED is high only, that's for certain.

They are high only or low only. I almost got these but wanted high and low in one light

Stock harness. High beam indicator doesn't work for now, unfortunately.
Very interesting - I need some new ones for my 62, did you update your wiring or use the stock harness? Does the high beam indicator work with them? Thanks for posting this up!

I have been browsing these for our 62 for a while. Rock auto has them dirt cheap.

They're considerably cheaper right now on amazon. $350 shipped vs $370 for RockAuto.

I'm ordering them right now. I've been avoiding driving the 62 a while because of the headlights.

Thanks!

You get to toss these on yet?
It's nice having crisp lighting that's effective and won't blind others.

And not having to guess what my old sealed beams were doing haha

They just showed up. I'll have them on this next weekend. I'm very thankful I don't have to figure out the wiring now.

Did you need any adapters or was the pin swap the only electrical change needed? Can you post a pic of the beam patterns?

I found the recipient wires on the new headlights and swapped the Positive and Ground Pins, this helps feed the electricity in the correct DC direction for the LEDs.
While it does work, I do not get the high-beam indicator because of the lack of load from the LEDs. A load resistor is necessary for that function. I'll look into one next.
High beam itself works great.

In fact, I ordered a pair of Negative Switching conversion harnesses off True Mods.
Basically it has a harness that takes one of your low-beam plugs from the vehicle, then outputs it to two outlet plugs in the correct pattern. It also takes power from the battery's positive terminal. These have ground wires that will need a bolt somewhere.
The second harness does the same thing but takes one of the high-beam plugs.
Hopefully this will be a quick and easy solution for those who do not feel comfortable with re-pinning and also want to get stable power from the battery.

If you scroll up, there are some beam output photos against a wall and along the road.

EDIT 2026-02-28: You will need just one of these harnesses to avoid having to re-pin the connectors.
I have it currently installed by using a simple bracket to mount the relays under the battery tray.
I'm using the Right low-beam plug as the input for the harness and it feeds both Left and Right low-beam units. Each side has a ground.
Now, this solves the issue where you don't have to repin the connectors, and you get a stable positive power from the battery.

Does this fix the high beam indicator or the headlight buzzer if left on? No, all of those require a load resistor to trigger the light to illuminate when your high beams are on.

I did find that using this harness somehow keeps the low beam ON whenever you are using the high beam.
Fortunately, the low beams do not have so much foreground that if you needed to have high beams on dark highways, it's not going to wash out your long-distance night vision with these excellent high beams.
:EDIT

This should work for any headlight that has DC inputs, so basically any HIDs or LEDs.
It's currently $14.99 off their website or $22.99 off Amazon.

I just remembered that the high beam plugs on the vehicle side is just two wires, and the socket on the high beams are two wires. Just flip the connector 180° and plug it in if you don't want to use a harness.
